Its location is exceptional and although the cost is double the usual rate for a Hampton the friendly, courteous, and efficient staff make it a wonderful stay. Located on the beach with a short walk from the pool to the Atlantic Ocean it feels more like a destination resort than a typical travelers motel. Haley and the front office staff were great. The breakfast was good but they ran out of fruit cocktail the 2nd day. Our room had a nice outside balcony and a partial ocean view. Our only qualm and this is true of most Hampton's is they cook the protein (sausage) in some kind of sugar mixture called maple. They have plenty of other sugar items and should leave the protein in an unadulterated state.

Room Tip: Go high for a water view.

We recently stayed 4 nights at the Hampton Inn in Corolla NC. The hotel is very clean, there is an availability of luggage carts to help you get stuff to / from rooms, the front desk staff is great, the grounds are very good, the in room frig was bigger than we expected, and the free breakfast exceeded expectations. I would suggest that the hotel put some 'slow closers' on the room doors - you could hear quite clearly (from your room) everyone coming and going in other rooms unless they specifically took action and slowed the door as it closed (not often enough). I would also suggest giving more substantial towels to people using the pool and beach (the towels were 'pool size' for 4 year olds).

Room Tip: Base the room choice on your budget - beach view for us was nice enough. I know I would prefer beac...

...the property is undergoing major renovations and there were inconveniences for us as guests. Here are the goods: Property is right on the beach, which is pristine and beautiful. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful at every turn. The breakfast buffet was excellent, lots of fresh foods and outstanding coffee. The grounds around the Hotel, including the two pools, were very nice. Our second room was a DD with a direct view of the dunes and ocean and had a balcony. That is a great way to wake up each day!
And the Not so Goods: We originally were put into a King Suite that had just been renovated but found screws under the carpet (ouch) and a TV that did not work at all. The construction upstairs was also quite noticeable and continued into the late afternoon. The Manager on Duty moved us and comp'd our first night stay (See Staff Comments). There was also a lot of construction Debris throughout the guest accessible hallways. For almost $300/night I expected more.

Room Tip: I would truly suggest you call ahead and ask if the renovations are complete. This is an expensive...

We stayed here for 4 nights last week and, for the most part, had a good stay. The location was great, right on the beach, though it takes a bit of a drive to get to restaurants, shops, etc. The room was nice and large with good bedding. The breakfast was pretty typical, but the breakfast area had plenty of seating. The HVAC system in our room worked really well - very quiet. There were, however, a few things that could have been better. First, and foremost, was their internet service - it was just simply awful, if you had it at all. When we told the desk staff about our problem, the desk clerk said that they always have trouble with that side of the building and there wasn't much they could do to fix it. If there is a known problem, why doesn't management get it fixed? Or maybe they want you to pay for their internet upgrade? Secondly, in the four days we were there, I don't think our room or the hallways were ever vacuumed. The same pieces of "stuff" were in the same location for our entire stay. The tub/shower was quite slippery and no grab bar was provided. And lastly, for over $200 a day, one would think they would at least clean out the soap dish by the room's sink. Did they? No! It wasn't touched in 4 days. I might add that the hotel is currently being renovated, but it had very little impact on our stay. Despite the issues, our overall stay was pretty good.

First trip to the Outer Banks. The staff was great and location fantastic right on the beach. They upgraded our room to beach front at no extra charge-- yea!! The hotel was under renovation on first and second floors but we would have not known it except for hearing about it in the elevator.
