“Sweet design with country club conditions!!”

Rocky River Golf Club

Owner description: Rocky River Golf Club is the premier public course in the Charlotte metropolitan area and is owned by the City of Concord. It is the ONLY municipally owned golf course to be rated in the North Carolina Top 100, and one of only 6 public courses in the state to make the top 100. Managed by the Embassy Suites, Concord Golf Resort and Spa, it is one of the only courses in the Charlotte area to offer stay and play packages with such a fantastic hotel affiliate. It is a beautiful and challenging course that is kept in great condition year round.

“Sweet design with country club conditions!!”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Best course condition public course in town!! The course was in perfect shape from tee to green and every where in between! The tee boxes are level, fairways and fringe grass was very tightly mowed and bunkers were in great condition! The greens are Mini Verde they rolled very true and fast (probably a 9 on Stimp) The green complexes are very large but fair!

It''s a sweet Dan Maples design I think! I especially love the back nine which is nestled down in a swamp area! The back nine has great elevation changes and requires a wide variety of club selection into and around the greens. If you are looking for the best "bang" for your buck this is it! There is no better course for your money in Charlotte! Great Maples design plus country club playing conditions make it a favor on my list of Charlotte courses you need to play! As a side note pace of play was good at 4 hours and the hot dog at the turn was excellent too!

Thanks for the great comments! We have been very pleased with the results of our new greens. Our goal is to provide a great experience for all our guests, and to make the Embassy Suites Golf Resort and Rocky River Golf Club the best resort offering in the entire Charlotte/Concord area.
Thanks again!

“Great course, good value.”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Rocky River was probably in the best condition it has been in some time. Lush fairways, and very smooth greens. The layout has always been one of the best around. Even though it is jammed between Z-Max Dragway and the over-developed Concord Mills, Charlotte Motor Speedway complex, only a little traffic noise will impact the experience. The course features gently rolling terrain, several holes bordered by substantial protected wetlands, and beautifully contoured and challenging greens. The only thing that took away from an otherwise perfect experience was the "surly" guy that checked us in. It is never nice to hear, "you're cutting it close, you need to hustle it up"' as the first thing out of a guys mouth...especially at 755AM on a beautiful golf day. He needs to be working somewhere else.

Located next to the Embassy Suites where we stayed. Great looking course that is challenging but not punishing. Can play 18 or just nine in the afternoon. Well staffed and well maintained. Great value. You will feel like you have been released into the beautiful North Carolina countryside. Flowers, ponds and the songs of birds--what else do you need to have a fun day of golf.

“Watch for the bait and switch”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

Purchased coupons online and they pulled the old bait and switch scheme. When we got there, we ended up paying $30 more to play. And we were not the only ones. There were others who fell for the same scheme. My suggestion would be not to purchase coupons online to play this course. We purchased through clickit and still had to pay more to play. The course was ok but certainly not worth the money they charge to play.
