My husband and I decided to try this on the way from Winston-Salem to Durham because we like the idea of farm-to-table and wanted to try what was described as home-style country cooking. This is obviously a popular place, but having tried it I don't understand why--except maybe for the huge portions and low prices. The food was heavy, fatty, and mostly tasteless except for the biscuits and the pulled pork. The fried chicken was moist but bland, the cheese grits were watery, and the side dishes were boring.
Even if the food were good, I wouldn't recommend this place because the bathrooms were dirty, especially the very sticky floors. You would think that a place that is so busy and has a large staff could assign someone to keep the bathrooms clean.
The waitress was friendly and attentive, but unfortunately that could not make up for the rest of the experience.
