Owner description: This 1,200-acre park was once the estate of William Neal Reynolds, brother of tobacco businessman R.J. Reynolds. The Reynolds willed the Tanglewood property to the citizens of Forsyth County to share as a public recreational park. The combination of its streams, woodlands, and grassy pastures with the traditions of its architecture, horses, gardening, and wide range of recreational activities make Tanglewood an ideal countryside park to visit over and over again.

Tanglewood park is a great place to visit! Walking trails, lots of area to run (trails and roads), two 18 hole golf courses and both are incredible. The championship course has hosted PGA events and can play long and is very challenging. Brand new dog park was opened this summer! Lakes for fishing, playgrounds everywhere, very large swimming pool, great place to cook out or picnic!

We have done this a few times - load up the car and wait in the line to enjoy the lights at Tanglewood. Turn on the Christmas music and get yourself in a festive mood. It's just fun! They lights are pretty - some a little cheesy but that's okay. Some are just gorgeous and we 'ooh' and 'aah' our way through the park. We also like stopping at the barn to enjoy a little shopping. To be perfectly honest we stop at Starbucks in Clemmons on the way out for upscale cocoa - that might be an option for improvement. Only reason it's not a 5 is the line to get in - usually takes longer than it seems like it should.

Many seasonal events In Forsyth county take place here, such as the Christmas festival of lights, food and wine events. It also has a nice camping area for RVs. Those things make it great for visitors and people interessted in the events. It has a small chapel and a fixed up "barn" for weddings and a small hotel/inn. I shouldn't forget golf, riding facilities, tennis and a large, often crowded swimming pool. My son likes the bicycle trails. Not all facilities are open at all times.

Tanglewood is an excellent family destination for the day or for a week. The park has much to offer. Swimming, Golf, Horseback Riding, Walking Trails, Camping, Picnic areas in the woods or under a shelter or by a lake. Also, the Christmas light display is worth the trip.
