“Great as usual!!”
Reviewed July 28, 2014 via mobile

This makes our 4th visit to Tia B's since they opened and it was great as we expected. I had the tacos which were made of the freshest ingredients. Bonus! ... now they've got their own hot sauces, so be sure to ask to try them! They sell them too. Tia B's is a must when traveling to or thru Chimney Rock! They never disappoint.

“Great Food”
Reviewed July 25, 2014

Not your typical Mexican, it is a gourmet mexican. The food is tasty and fantastic. Service is awesome. If you want special hot sauces ask your wait person what special sauces they have. They had 4 different ones they brought us that they make fresh. The food is always good and flavorful. If you can sit outside and listen to the river.

“Unexpected treasure”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

We were checking out the menu on the outside of Tia B's and an exiting customer said, "try it--it's the best food around." We went in an were greeted warmly into this unexpected treasure by the smiling co-owner Jean and she seated us on the deck overlooking the river.

Curious of the restaurant's history, we asked Jean and she explained her great-aunt Tia B had recently passed and left her a bit of money. Jean's husband had grown up and spent much of his youth in Mexico and Spain through his father's employment. He wanted to open a restaurant and serve authentic food based on his experience and brought recipes from the areas where he had lived. Tia B's is the result.

We are health conscious eaters and avoid gluten, gmo's and artificial anything. Tia B's did not disappoint. Everything but the chips are made from scratch and they even grow some of their own herbs. It's great that they have gluten free (should advertise) and vegan options. The menu is very simple.

My husband loved the huevos rancheros and the rest of us had yummy enchiladas and chicken tacos. What we didn't finish that night, we heated up for lunch the next day. We also went back three days later (closed Wednesdays) and had an equally satisfying meal including the Sangria which patrons at another table recommended.

It just goes to show that you don't have to be of Mexican descent to cook authentic Mexican food--but it helps to have grown up there!

“Not what I expected”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

We stopped by Tia B's while walking around and first thing we noticed was there are no Hispanics cooking the food, not to say that only Hispanics can cook good Mexican food. We sat down at very simple tables and we were served chips and salsa. The Verde was decent but the salsa was very bland, hardly no cilantro at all. The prices are high for what you get and the selection is minimal. The chicken quesadilla's had rare bell peppers in them, eww, never had that before and the Mexican rice was the blandest rice I have ever had. One of our kids got the kids cheese quesadilla and I should have taken a picture to show how small it was, it was ridiculous. On top of that a male employee came and told my 11yr old daughter to cut down her phone as she was watching a video of her sister doing karaoke the night before, even though they have annoying music playing and a live band, really

“Yummy!”
Reviewed June 30, 2014 via mobile

Our family stopped in after visiting Chimney Rock Park, before a long drive back to the coast. We were greeted very warmly and seated on the river deck. The food was excellent-fresh and flavorful, and the service was great as well. Tia B's did not disappoint.
