“good food by the river”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2012

We had a burger and a pork BBQ sandwich both of which were quite good. The deck by the river is a great place to eat.

“average deli”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2012

Went to the Riverwatch with a recommendation from another business in Chimney Rock Village. Said that they had great American deli style food using Boars Head Cut. They were not busy and basically had the place to ourselves. Ordered a cheeseburger and fries, my wife got another style sandwich and fries. The food was good, yet it wasn't great as the recommendation lead us to believe. My burger had a good taste to it and the bun was lightly toasted which was nice. However I expect the cheese to be melted on a cheeseburger. The cheese actually still had a chill to it from the fridge. The fries were average again, not bad but not great either. Overall restaurant was good, we sat on the back porch with the straight up vertical view of Chimney Rock. The river was nice outside as well. Self service drinks which is actually pretty nice because you can control your ice the way you want. Condiments were all in single serve packs, again not bad. Again not a bad experience, it just didn't fulfill our expectations based on the recommendation. First time in Chimney Rock, probably would try out the other places first before returning. But I would go back, eventfully.

“I wanted a ham and cheese sandwich, and that's what I got.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2012

My husband and I ate lunch before a hike on Chimney Rock. The draw for this place is the view of the river from the patio. We didn’t get a great view because the place was packed, but it was still nice to sit outside and hear the water rushing by. Some other tables spent their time jockeying for the best table as other parties left, which seemed to work for them.

The food is average deli-type food. I think they use Boar’s Head meats. We both had ham and cheese sandwiches and fries. There wasn’t anything stand-out about it. The lettuce tasted like someone had picked it out of a bag and didn’t rinse it beforehand, but the ham and cheese and bread were fine. They have burgers and hot dogs and the like as well. All looked pretty good (the hot dogs were huge). If you’re looking for a place to grab a fast bite before or after visiting the park, this is it.

Nice menu, reasonable prices, friendly staff. Long preparation time, but sandwich was delightful.
