“Not worth it”
Reviewed February 12, 2014 via mobile

We visited Chimney Rock and had many great experiences, but this was not one of them. A couple waiting to pay when we walked in told us after fifteen minutes of standing around, "I think you just go upstairs and seat yourself." We were thoroughly confused because it was the offseason and many restaurants were closed, but there was a sign on the door saying, "We're open for lunch, come on in!" My boyfriend proceeded to try and order a coke and the waiter told us they no longer carried coke products because they're too expensive and they could barely keep the restaurant open as it is. The food was mediocre and then we waited twenty more minutes to get our bill and pay.

I really hope that things have improved here since we visited!

“Best Food & Service Ever!!”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

Don't let the name fool ya!
Yes, this place has yummy cakes, brownies and cinnamon rolls that are delicious but that's downstairs!
Go upstairs for one of the best meals you'll ever have! They have an incredible breakfast they serve all day long. Try the monster pancake challenge (watch out it's huge) it could easily feed 4 people. The buffalo chicken sandwich is awesome as well. As if the great food ain't enough you couldn't ask for better service. The staff is as nice and friendly as they come. The owner will come visit your table just to make sure your happy before you leave.
We couldn't have found a better place to eat!

“Monster Pancake Challenge!!”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

Get your camera ready, 'cause like our waitress told us...."Everyone takes a picture of them." The Monster Pancake is exactly that. It's huge!!! And you get a free piece of cake if you eat all of the Monster Pancake. Note: You won't want to eat the piece of cake for at least 3 days because you'll still be hurting. It was very good and highly recommended.

We like to eat a late breakfast on vacation so Laura's House is perfect as they serve breakfast all day.

Be sure to get a table near the window on the 2nd floor of the restaurant as you can do some people watching and have a great view of Chimney Rock while you suffer trying to put down the pancake.

“Good food and excellent waitstaff”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

The meatloaf with their special sauce is great! Had pinto beans and loaded potato salad to go with it. Went back for breakfast and deserts. Everything was excellent. Waitstaff very attentive and easy to carry on a conversation with. The owner had some great stories of the restaurant's history. He circulated often to make sure you were having a good time. The view was fantastic and the cinnamon buns - awesome.

“down home friendly - great experience”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

After an amazing morning on Chimney Rock we stopped in for lunch. Grabbed a table in front of the wall of windows - beautiful view. The food was "down-home" simple fare - just right for our mood. My juicy meatloaf sandwich & 'tater soup' were really, really good. Clearly homemade. Our niece had a huge thick burger - no frozen patties here - she loved it. The B of the BLT was about the best bacon any of us can remember- thick, lots of black pepper & was that molasses we tasted? The star, though, was the pound cake. (Save room - trust me.) We ended up buying two whole cakes to take home. Loved our server Mike (thanks for sharing the secret of the fries & for the directions to the swimming hole). We also had a lovely chat with the owner. You absolutely cannot be in a hurry here but that's a large part of the appeal.,, just sit back, relax, and remember why you came to the mountains...enjoy yourself. This is now one of our "must do" stops!
