Beautiful park with many trials that include easy to hard. It is very clean and workers around the trails in case you need someone. Definitely worth the visit and the gorgeous views from the top.

Get there early or the lines crank up. $15 to enter but worth every penny. The vistas are breathtaking. Take the time to hike to the very top and see the world below. Wow.

Chimney Rock State Park is a privately run park and well worth the visit! A pit pricey (it was $52 for the four of us in our car). But once in that includes the elevator ride to the top of Chimney Rock in an historical elevator (or you can climb the stairs). You do exit the elevator through a gift shop and then step outside to a magnificent view of Lake Lure and the mountains. You can then climb up higher to the Opera box or even higher. There are several hikes in the area. We did the Hickory Nut Falls hike. Yes it is a hike but well worth it to see a wonderful waterfall. The walk to the falls is mostly up hill. Definitely easier on the way back. There is a small restaurant at the top and at the parking lot or pack a picnic lunch. Or go to one of the restaurants in the town of Chimney Rock. Only annoying thing is they let dogs walk up the stairs and sit outside in the restaurant. These people had their small dog on the table where people eat -- really! Just cause you love your dog doesn't mean I want it standing on where I want to eat!

Last time I was here, there was a four-hour trail. That trail is no longer available, but there are plans to re-open. Check to see if Skyline Trail links with Hickory Nut Trail.

Chimney Rock is a beautiful place to visit. I grew up the area, but visited again with my friend today and it's just as amazing as it was years ago!
When you first get there you need to hike up to the Chimney (you cannot go and not see this). Even though the stairs will look intimidating (there are over 1500) if you are physically able, you need to take that route. The views as you go up are indescribable, and are part of the amazing experience of getting to the top. However if you are handicapped, or can't manage that many stairs they do offer you an elevator through a cave to get you to the top, which is wonderful to make it accessible to all! When you get to the top you will see why the hike is completely worth it!
I saw everyone from a 4 year old, to a tiny dog, to a lady in her 70's climbing today, so you've got to give it a try!

Hickory Nut falls is definitely worth walking to. There is a staircase leading down (or you can walk around past where the shuttle lets off and walk on the road) but the trail itself is gravel and has rolling small hills. A fairly easy hike for any age. The waterfall is beautiful! You are able to walk under it, and wade in some pools around it. While it's a beautiful waterfall it is gentle enough for kids to play under (while supervised of course!)

It is a beautiful place to visit and I highly recommend it! You can walk as much or as little as you want, so it has something for everyone. Restrooms are easily accessible, and there are places all around to buy water, ice cream, snacks, etc. There are also plenty of break spots on the way to the Chimney, so don't worry!!
