W had such a great visit. The park is lovely and there is a ton of things to do. My kids and I had a blast on the kids trail and the views from the Chimney are amazing.

The staff in all areas were helpful and very friendly.

Overall, a great visit.

I visited this park twice before it became a state park and LOVED it! Unfortunately, it's nothing like it was then. The best hike in the park (across the top of the mountain to the top of the waterfall) has been closed except the very first section. The $15 fee is far too high for what you get now as the other hikes are boring.

The 491 steps are a bit challenging but well worth the view when you are standing on the Chimney Rock and looking out over Lake Lure and far far beyond. The waterfall is breathtaking. This is a great excursion for families, couples, anyone! Very beautiful! Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for something fun to do in Chimney Rock. Celebrate with ice cream when you come back down! :-)

This was a fantastic view once you were up on the rock, you can clearly see lake Mure as well as many of the surrounding peaks. We also did the hike that took us to the waterfall, the hike was enjoyable and again beautiful views as you go. After going to Dupont forest and seeing 4 waterfalls for free I felt that $15 was a tiny bit high. They do have a senior citizen discount that I didn't see mentioned in any of the reading material. Overall, I did really enjoy myself, the drive up there is a tiny bit scary because the road is 2 way but VERY narrow!

Located off Hwy 64 between Lake Lure and Hendersonville, this is a fun half day stop for anyone. Only $15 per to get in (an annual pass cost less than 2 visits), it is well worth it. You drive up most of the distance and park in an area just below the Chimney Rock formation. You can hike up, or for those that are less capable, there is an elevator through a tunnel deep in the mountain. Climb some steps and bridge over to the top of the rock. Mountains on either side, valley below, and spread off to the east is an endless view of the Carolina Piedmont and Lake Lure. Was there in the afternoon, but I bet dawn/early morning is spectular (especially in the Fall). An additional hike (and steps) up takes you to Exclamation Point. It is the highest vantage in the park and faces north westerly up the Hickory Nut Valley. Another hike (about 45 minutes), that is fairly easy for most takes you to Hickory Nut Falls. It is around 400 something feet and one of the highest in the east. It was also used as a location shot in the movie"Last of the Mohicans" with Daniel Day Lewis. That movie definitely takes advantage of the absolutely gorgeous scenery found in Western Carolina.
