A beautiful place. Quaint town at the bottom that's fun to explore. Lake Lure has a nice public beach but it does cost to enter.

My husband and I were visiting the area for our honeymoon. We're from Florida and are used to the beach, so we were excited about coming to the mountains!

The drive from our cabin proved to be a fun, twisty 20 minute ride. It was so crazy to me how I kept just twisting and turning- what I found were called "switch backs". Anyway- so after the awesome drive to Chimney Rock- I couldn't believe my eyes!

It was a great hike to the bottom of the waterfall. We spent a good while just checking the area out. We then took the stairs up to the next area that got us to the second area where you can stop and get a drink, use the bathroom. Then...more steps to get up to Chimeny Rock then steps to get on Chimney Rock. I was all good until the steps leading to the actual rock. But I'm terrible with heights so I just focus on what was direclty in front of me and didn't look to the sides! We only spent a few minutes on the rock and then stopped at the Opera Box and then up to the very tip top where you can see the trail they walked on in The Last of the Mohicans.

Although not the type of hiking I had dreamed of, as in it being less "commercialized" if you will, it was still INCREDIBLE! and I would do it again and again. We did get the hiking I was thinking about at Rattlesnake Rock (on the side of the road when you are headed to Chimney rock from Fairview, has a little chimney sitting out front and you can see where theres enough room to park.) and also at Worlds Edge, which you pretty much just take until it dead ends, we used 300 worlds edge, hendersonville, nc for our GPS and then drove until it was a dead end.

I seriously didn't believe that the elevator took us that far in that amount of time, it was crazy fast and so smooth!!!

This is a great adventure!

This place is located in a really cute town. The park is very nicely kept up. There were two snack/gift shops. There is an elevator you can take to get to a middle level, but if you want to go all the way to the top get ready to climb LOTS of stairs! You can't take the elevator if you bring your dog either. There is a bathroom at the main level with a very nice mural painted, but it was not clean, supplies were low in there, and it was too small (always a long line). Overall, we were pleased with our trip

Dear teknoturtl,
It's great to hear that you enjoyed your scenic hiking throughout the Park despite the effort involved. Some people call our stairs to the Chimney "nature's Ultimate Stairmaster!" We must apologize for the conditions of the rest rooms, as it's all of our staff's goal to provide the best possible & pleasant experience, even down to the small details like smiling and offering to take a photo of your group. Please let any staff member know if the rest rooms get out of control, and we'll be sure to address it immediately. Thanks for visiting, and we hope to see you again soon!
Sincerely,
Chimney Rock Staff

Probably a good place to take the kids. Lovely view and exciting elevator trip through the rock. Nothing particularly memorable. Typical tourist gift shop.

It was a little cold in March when we visited, but we still walked the trails and saw the waterfalls where the Last of the Mohicans was filmed. The stairs and the elevator to the top were not accessible due to renovations, however, there was plenty of hiking trails to explore.

Dear Reviewer024,
We're delighted you enjoyed your visit so much, despite our mess with the capital improvements. We're excited to share that our modernized elevator and upgraded Outcroppings trail were completed and fully reopened by June, so we hope you get a chance to come back and check out the impressive improvements throughout the Park.
Live it up,
