“Out of Order Elavator”
Reviewed October 20, 2011

We were warned by Rangers at the gate that the elevator was out of order. We chose to climb the newly renovated steps to the top. The view was worth the effort.

“a good place to visit”
Reviewed October 18, 2011

Really enjoyed the park. Views are awesome. Dissappointed though that several lookout points and the restraunt was closed. Trails are marked very well, and easy to travel. Gift shop at the bottom is nice. All the steps to the Rock, are very well maintained, and handrails make it easy.

“This is a hike worth the effort and a town worth the drive!”
Reviewed October 13, 2011

We went to Asheville, NC Sept. 22-26, 2011 for my friend's birthday, and the experience was more than wonderful. We hiked Chimney Rock which took us about 4 hours. We went to the falls which are so beautiful and you really feel like there is not another city or town within hundreds of miles around. The town of Chimney Rock is absolutely the most quaint town that looks like a town out of an old western movie. There are shops on the one strip street and it is nestled deep in the NC mountains. Along the 45 minute drive to Chimney Rock from Asheville, there are numerous Apple Orchards for Apple picking and BBQ tasting. We stopped at one and bought homemade apple butter and pumpkin butter and it is out of this world!!! If you are in Asheville, you have to hike Chimney Rock. But beware, my calves felt as though I'd had surgery for the next few days following the hike. Living in Florida now, I wasn't used to such inclines. It was awesome.

We visited Chimney Rock and Lake Lure actually in mid September 2010. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking at the top of the Rock, we enjoyed the journey up and down, the park was a great place for a picnic. We then went to Lake Lure for the boat trip and dinner at Lake Lure Inn, which was great food and service!! Highly recommend this outting!!

“Great day out in the beautiful outdoors. Be prepared for stairs . . . lots and lots of stairs.”
Reviewed October 13, 2011

This was our second trip to Chimney Rock Park while visiting Asheville. It was just as we remembered. Beautiful weather, scenic views, great exercise. I would not recommend this park for people who are not physically fit or who have walking limitations. The stair climbing is extensive, but well worth it.

There is a small store at the parking areas, but if you want a lunch, pack one. We had a great little picnic sitting in the rocking chairs outside the store.

Dear monandeclan,
Thanks for visiting us again! We like seeing old friends return to enjoy the beauty of Chimney Rock. You have shared some great photos here, too. FYI, the elevator is being modernized and is scheduled to be back in service to the public in April 2012.
