We enjoyed our visit to Oconaluftee very much. Our 4 girls learned a lot about Cherokee Indian history. In addition, Mr. Jackson, the village manager, spent extra time with us teaching us about the Cherokee language and how only 270 Cherokee still speak the language. He took the time to write us out a homework assignment for the girls, gave the girls Cherokee names, and helped us find information about the language that we could use at home. Additionally, every single staff member we spoke to, from the actors at each station during the tour to the concession stand worker, was very friendly and helpful. They told us where to go in town to see other interesting/educational things. On an aside, the bathrooms were very clean, which is important to a family with 5 girls!
