“Nice sized waterfall, short hike of steps to reach it.”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

There are lots of waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains area. I was looking for a waterfall which was relatively easier to reach, since I was going with my parents (seniors) and little kids. This worked out well.

It was a short 10-15 minutes drive from Cherokee downtown. There are quite a few well maintained steps to climb, probably more than a hundred. My parents took frequent breaks and were fine. After the steps is a short trail, which was kind of slushy / slippery / muddy, because it had rained. Got to be a little cautious here.

The waterfall itself was bigger than I thought and quite impressive and surrounded by trees. So it is not a big open area to view the falls. There is a small but well-built deck and people were going under/around it to play in the flowing water and to take better pictures.

All in all, a great spot for a quick visit.

“Another must see in Cherokee, NC”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Mingo Falls is gorgeous and the trek to the bridge from which you get a spectacular view of the falls is full of beautiful, photogenic sights. The teens with us thanked us several times for taking them to this special place.

“Mingo Falls”

Very pretty setting. Not a bad hike up and a lot of the stairs were spaced out in length, so you could rest if you needed. I suggest a good pair of walking/hiking shoes for the trek. A lot of the area was wet, but it could have been from all the rain.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

Once you get past the 100+ steps at the beginning, the rest of the trail is fairly easy. We went after a short rain and the trail only had a few muddy spots. There is a bridge at the base of the falls to get photos from.

“Spectacular waterfall”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

This waterfall does have many steps, but they are not that bad. The falls are absolutely gorgeous coming off the shear cliff. There is a bridge which crosses in front of the falls giving plenty of opportunity for great snapshots.
