“Beautiful falls, weird to get to”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

You could easily miss this one. There are just a few very small signs to show how far on Big Cove Road. The parking area was adequate for the number of people that might be visiting at one time. There are about 150 stairs and then a dirt\rock path to a bridge that crosses the stream (maybe 1/4 mile total). You are about 150 feet from the falls on the stairs, perfect for viewing. It was a little hard to photograph well in the afternoon because you are in the dark on the bridge and the falls are in full sun. Daredevils can climb the rocks up to the falls. There are no facilities\restrooms. I think it took us about an hour from Cherokee out here and back on with a good while spent on viewing.

“"Easy" falls for people with mobility issues”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

Gorgeous falls. For people who have trouble getting around, you can do this one if you take it slow and easy. There are stairs most of the way. If you only see one falls in the park, do this one. If you're staying on the Tennessee side, it's not that far from Clingman's Dome. You can do both in one day no problem. Worth the drive.

“Superb Waterfall”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

More than 100 feet high and plenty of water. Mingo is a short hike up about 100 steps and then 500 feet of level trail. We visit lots of waterfalls and Mingo is in the top 5%.

“Quite a Hike”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

Mingo Falls is tucked away in the Indian reservation that is just adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Cherokee NC. It probably doesn't get the traffic that other attractions get, simply because of its location. It happens to be the tallest falls in or near the park. It is accessible from Cherokee. From the parking lot at the falls, there are a number of stairs to climb to reach the bottom of the falls. Anyone who is in good health should be able to get there, but be sure and not overdo it. It is very beautiful and peaceful. Once you reach the top of the stairs, there is a short, easy trail leading to a footbridge that crosses the creek in front of the falls. Great picture opportunities await you.

“mingo falls nc”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Mingo Falls is in Cherokee North Carolina. It's off the main tourist road down I believe Big Cove Rd. Follow that road past the KOA camp grounds and you'll find a small parking lot next to a trailer park. Go up stairs up the side of the mountain. It will turn into a short trail. At the end of it is a very tall beautiful water fall. You stand on a bridge to view it. So nice and peaceful. I can watch it forever.
