We stayed in room 105 with our little dog. The rooms all have small balconies overlooking the fast flowing river and Mallard ducks, as well as an indian encampment on the opposite shore. The motel is a row of rooms sandwiched on a small sliver of land between the road and the river, with only angle parking in front of each unit . Be sure to pull your car forward as much as possible in the parking space, or you risk being hit by passing cars when taking luggage out of your trunk. The room door is well insulated so there was little road noise in the room, and none after 10 pm when everything quieted down. There was new furniture and carpet, the bed was fine, and the fridge and microwave convenient. The room was clean, and the bathroom had new fixtures. Overall it was a good stay. The only downside was that there was very little grass to walk the dog. Next time we might stay at the Newfound Lodge next door which also takes pets but which wasn't open until April, simply because is is set back from the road a bit more, but has the same balconies over the river, etc. The Pink Motel is next to that, but not open until the end of April and it didn't appear to be well kept up.
Warnings:
1) The Rivers Edge office closes at 5 p.m. After that you must go to the Econolodge to get your keys.
2) Also if you want to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway in March, phone ahead to learn about conditions because Blue Ridge doesn't post current information on their website. We arrived to find much of the Parkway was closed.

The stting at the rear of this hotel/motel looked lovely.
I would love to do a review on this hotel but unfortunately did not get the opportunity to stay after I thought I had booked a room.
Apparently when they are not available to answer the phone, (the desk staff explained this to me) the calls are transfered to the Econolodge riversedge!!! It turns out I was booked in there instead. When the phone was answered all I heard was the "Riversedge" bit and I, wrongly as it tuned out, assumed I was booked into the hotel that I had rung. Hope to try it at some time in the future.

My wife and I have stayed at the River's Edge many times when we stay in Cherokee. We took our Daughter and Granddaughters (5 & 7) this spring and they loved the location. Across the street they mined at the Ruby Mine. Shops in walking distance. The really loved throwing food to the ducks on the river off of our private balacony. They would say, "Grandpa, lets just stay on the balacony and feed the ducks and let Mom and Nanny go shopping". Great rooms and the office staff makes the long drive from Canton, Ga. worthwhile. Near the casino and all attractions. Plenty of eating establishments close. Next door to the Great Smokey Mts visitors center. All and all a great place to stay. Parking is a bit tight but that is the only problem and I can live with that.
