Pam at desk was very rude we were going to stay extra nights but her rudeness was more than we could take.Every question was cut short with rude snappy answers. Another couple came in as we were going out she stated to this couple "what am I the chamber ! We will not return to this hotel nor tell our friends about it

Recently stayed for 2nights with my sister and it was perfect. Loved the balcony overlooking the river. Very friendly staff. The only reason I did not give it an excellent is the smoking and smell of cigarettes. But my sister is a smoker and it seemed to work good or her. Even though the room was a non smoking room it smelled of smoke but that was probably caused by the ac filtering it back in the room from the balcony. Clean rooms ,comfy beds, and free wifi which was great because if you have AT&T cell signal is non existent unless you ride own the street and that not always works either.

We stayed at the River's Edge Motel on our way to take our son back to Western Carolina U. Weeknight price was $69.99 so a great bargain! No breakfast available but we brought some breakfast bars and made coffee in the room. Parking was a little tough with an extra long SUV as it is perpendicular from the motel to the road but I was able to pull up all the way to curb to make sure the rear of the vehicle was not in the road. The lobby was very nice as was the woman who checked us in. She reminded us to make sure to get ice before the lobby closed at 9pm as that is where the ice machine is located. We got a 2nd floor 2 double bed room which had a TV, fridge, coffee maker and hairdryer. The room was obviously recently renovated however the non-smoking room smelled VERY stale and strong of smoke from years past. The bathroom was very nice. Clean and renovated with great towels. The linens on the beds were super nice and matched the drapes going out to the very spacious private balcony overlooking the river. Beds were very comfortable. The balcony had one rocker and one plastic chair. Could have used a small table on balcony and a 2nd rocker would have been ideal. The road noise was minimal at night but rather loud in the morning during the week. It actually overshadowed the river noise. I will stay there again but I will bring along my white noise machine, febreeze, a small folding table for porch and another decent folding chair. Great place for the price!

Room Tip: ALL rooms overlook river so not a bad view in the place.

I was so pleased with the cleanliness and freshness of my room. I spent a weekend here alone and was very happy with the quiet and peacefulness. I spent a good portion of my getaway sitting on the balcony, which had two rocking chairs, enjoying the beautiful river below. Weekend pricing was a little more than I had expected but worth it!

Room Tip: If you are a single visitor ask for first room on second floor. Double bed and very quiet.

Stayed three nights and very pleased with the rooms and location. They were very clean, and also had mini fridge units in them. If there was a negative, it is that the ice machine is in the office which closes around 9:30 pm and doesn't open until around 8:30 or 9:00 am, so plan accordingly if you need ice. Otherwise a great stay!

We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the river and seeing the ducks on their daily swim down river, then they fly back and float down again. So relaxing. The front desk were more than willing to help make our stay an extra special one.

We were in town for a concert at the casino, but wanted to stay on the river and this was a good fit. Reasonable rates, clean, and quiet. Beautiful view of the river, mountain, and campground across the river. (ha)

Cons were that the rooms are nonsmoking, but people have broken that rule because you could definitely smell smokers had been in the room, but I'm sure that happens everywhere but they may want to invest in some better air cleaning products.
Also, I do think someone should always be at the front desk at all times (they leave at 9:30) for needs of the occupants whether for security or maintenance concerns.

The only real complaint is the shower was pretty weak, barely able to get all the soap out of your hair!
