“Be prepared for some construction”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

This is an older Hampton Inn that is currently being renovated (as advertised on their on-line directory). We got one of the older rooms and it really needed some work, so you might want to ask for one of the renovated ones.

The breakfast is basic Hampton, but the area is rather small. If the hotel is full, you may have troubles finding a table.

Rather than having the laundry in an isolated area, it is on the second floor surrounded by guest rooms. We were several rooms from the laundry and the noise was annoying. We would not have wanted to be right next door! (Get a high numbered room to be away from the laundry.)

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the hotel to avoid noise from the very busy road in front of the hotel...

This property is very old and dated. We stayed one night even though we had reservations for 5 nights. They are under renovation, however, it does not have the feel of a Hampton. The lobby is nice and the breakfast was the usual Hampton spread. We requested a fridge when we made the reservations but we did not get one. The hallways were very loud - guest doors slamming. I guess the pull of the door, but it was constant. Staff was nice enough to let us leave early so we could go to another Hampton in Cashiers.
The room was below average in comparison to other Hampton's we have stayed. Old and dated. Would not recommend if you are expecting Hampton quality. It was overpriced. My husband said it felt like a Motel 6. Should be priced accordingly.

It's a little dated, but comfortable and clean. Staff was helpful and our request for 2 adjoining rooms was accommodated. The location was easy driving distance from restaurants and tourist shops and very convenient to the park, although we generally prefer staying in a more central area.

This was not a good night. We as we'll got the room right at the ice machine. I had no idea that people wanted ice at every hour of the night! The thing was dispensing ice every 30 minutes and it was LOUD. on another note, could people at hotels be a little more courteous in the hall and NOT talk so loud, let your door slam, and yell at your kids in the room?? The free breakfast also didn't start on time because the hostess "just couldn't get out of bed" that morning. Wish I could get away with that one at work.

Although it is under construction it shows a lot of age/wear. I think the price should be adjusted down while the construction is underway. They should have a fridge in the rooms but don't. On the positive side the employees are nice and they have a good breakfast.
My Wife left something in the room and they offered to ship it to her on my credit card. That was a positive also.
I just felt it was the worst one of many I have been to as far as looks and amenities.

We have stayed in many many Hamptons and would rate this as average in comparison. We asked for a room on a high floor away from the elevators and ice machine. We got a room on the first floor right next to the ice machine and elevator and should have asked to be changed. Room was small, but comfortable and clean. Because of the noise from the ice machine and people taking the elevator, we did not enjoy a good night of sleep. Breakfast was plentiful, but the hostess was busy talking to people rather than restocking supplies. The oatmeal was not next to the other cereals and milk and not identified, so we missed that. The breakfast room was very crowded. We would stay here again but would be more particular about the room assignment.

Room Tip: If you get a room next to the ice machine, ask to change to a room far away from the machine and ele...

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting GSMNP. We did not have reservations. Check in was friendly. We were told the cookies would be put out in just a little bit. We checked back twice that evening and they were never out. Checked several times during our stay and never saw a cookie in the container the whole time we were here. Right next to the elevator, on the 2nd floor, is the ice machine. Before we got to our room we noticed a large puddle of water coming from the ice machine and the carpet was soaked. You had to slosh through it to get to the hallway or to get ice. Our room had a musty smell and was warm. The duvet was very lumpy under the duvet cover. The bed didnt seem to be as comfortable as other Hampton Inns. But we were able to sleep on it. The furniture in this room was dusty. The carpet was old, worn and dirty. Because the room was so warm, we turned up the ac and went to eat dinner, thinking the room would be cooled off by the time we got back. It wasnt, and never did cool off. It was a long warm night in that musty room. (Before we left for dinner we notified the front desk of the leaking ice machine. She said they'd look at it. They threw towels down which did no good. It leaked for the entire 3 nights we were there. On the day of our departure, a "caution" sign was put up next to it.) After our first night in the warm musty room my husband called the front desk and told them the ac wasnt working. We waited about an hr for a service man to come take a look at it. The service man complained about having to do this job and implied that we froze up the unit, which we did not do. He turned on the heat causing such a stink in the room with dust, and who knows what else, backing up into the room. We were moved to another room. Its Hampton Inns policy to offer compensation, in addition to moving a guest to another room, none was offered to us however. The second room was just as the first except that the ac worked. Breakfast was minimal and unlike any other Hampton Inn we've stayed at. The hot items were kept in a freezer and you microwaved them yourself. The dinning area was small but comfortable. We've stayed at a lot of Hampton Inns and this is the worst one we've stayed at. We would not stay at this facility again.
