The Hilton is not one of the top tier hotels in Charlotte but it is certainly on par with properties charging quite a bit more. The rooms are comfortable and features the largest workspace of any hotel I've visited in Charlotte. The restaurant is adequate but the hotel is right in the center of Uptown, within walking distance of everything. The bed is very comfortable and the wifi provides a consistent connection that generally allows me to stream TV shows and movies. This is everything you'd expect from a Hilton and somewhat more. Save the money you'd pay for the Omni and enjoy a couple of fine meals in town.

Room Tip: Nice view from the higher floors

Green Features: the hotel offers the standard option to not have your towels washed. I was not made aware of any other green initiatives.

This hotel doesn't have a pool accessible to children. My kids and niece were very disappointed that they couldn't use the pool the Friday night of our stay because the hotel doesn't have its own pool, it shares the pool with the YMCA. They have adults only during the week and only with the lifeguard over the weekend. It was not a good family location.

Dear Lakisha P., Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay at the Hilton Charlotte Center City. I am sincerely sorry the pool was not available to you and your family Friday. The YMCA is a great facility that we are able to offer to our guests complimentary but during the week they do restrict the access to adults over 16, however children under 16 are allowed when accompanied by an adult. We are working with our partners at the YMCA to extend these courtesies on Friday afternoons and hopefully we can make this accommodation in the near future. I do hope the next time your travels take you to Charlotte you will give us another opportunity to show you a true Hilton Experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Stayed here for a preseason football game and its a nice property. There are plenty of bars restaurants and things within steps of the is property. The football stadium and new baseball stadium are very easy to access and closet to this hotel.

Will definitely stay again for another football game!

Dear 1porkchop, Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay at the Hilton Charlotte Center City. We are very glad you enjoyed your stay and we thank you for staying with us while going to watch the Panthers play at Bank of America stadium. Our close proximity to Bank of America Stadium, BB&T Ball Park and Time Warner Arena allows our guests a short walk to each of these venues so they don’t have to deal with the traffic in the city around the games. We hope to see you again when the Panthers play in September.

I've been to this hotel before but this is the first time that I got a room at the end of the hall (528). It was an oddly shaped room but OK for a single traveler and it was clean. The bathroom is very small - you have to close the door to get to the sink. The very large TV is mounted right above the desk - you would not be able to watch TV while sitting there. The biggest problem was that there are no outlets by the bed. I had to plug my cell phone is across the room. I've been to other older hotels that provide a power strip for guests in this situation. I also prefer the rooms with the stall showers - this one had a tub.

Room Tip: ASk for the larger rooms with the stall showers - stay away from the rooms at the end of the hall.

Dear misty00115, Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay at the Hilton Charlotte Center City. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and we sincerely appreciate your feedback about the functionality of the room. We are in the process of purchasing all new guest room bed side lamps which have outlets for our guests to plug in their electronic devices. We are hoping to have this in the coming months. We hope the next time your travels take you to Charlotte you will stay with us again.

We booked this hotel for our 10th anniversary on 8/16 through Priceline. We specified we wanted a 4 star hotel (minimum), with a pool and gym. When we arrived at 6pm the rather unfriendly front desk agent informed us the YMCA facility the hotel uses was closed till Sunday at noon, well after we were leaving Charlotte. We explained that getting a workout in and/or a swim was important to us, but she didn't care. Then, we went to our room and found our bathroom covered in black mold. Do not book this hotel. It's gross.

Stayed here one night. Very friendly and accommodating staff that allowed for an early check-in and a late check-out. Also, the hotel restaurant bar was very good, and reasonably priced for a hotel restaurant. I would stay here again.

I can't believe the deal I got on this hotel. I booked through hotels.com. It was a pre-season football game weekend and this hotel is very convenient to the stadium so I figured it would cost a fortune, but this was one of the least expensive offerings. So I figured there must be a catch. But no, this is a very nice property and VERY convenient to the stadium, light rail station (right outside the door) and the center city area. I was very pleased with our stay.

The hotel is very nice and modern, as you would expect in a large city. The guest registration drive and lobby are both on the small side (there was almost no room to pull in, but the valets did get the cars cleared out just in time for more cars to pull in). The registration desk appeared to only be able to service 4 guests at a time maximum. There were only two associates on duty when we arrived, so there was a bit of a wait. But they were very friendly and helpful. Daily self-parking was $18 and valet was $25. I think both of these are probably a great deal for the area. The self-parking is quite easy with access to the lot from the second floor foyer.

There is a much larger "foyer" area on the second floor that serves as the entrance to the hotel bar & restaurant as well as several shops. It's a bit confusing when coordinating with friends on the same trip--we had to make sure we specified that we were going to meet on the second floor. The 3rd St/Convention Ctr light rail stop is right outside the "back" door and there is a wonderful courtyard and fountain outside the "front" door accessible from this level.

My wife & I got a king room that was at the very end of the hall (our room number ended in 10). While it was a bit like a maze getting to it, the advantage is that by being at the end of the hall we didn't hear a single other guest. Speaking of noise, one of my big complaints about hotel rooms is the noise of the AC/heater system. This room was completely silent. Well done! And no city noise could be heard as well (we were on the 10th floor, so reasonably high up anyway).

The rooms are decorated very nicely. Based on the decor and amenities I would say that this property may have undergone a renovation fairly recently. There was no refrigerator in the room however. The TV was a very large unit and there were convenient hookups to connect your computer to it (I didn't test this).

The one complaint I do have, and I don't feel that this is enough to lower my rating from 5 stars, is that the room is a classic example of form over function. While things like the bathroom fixtures and shower design are very modern and beautiful and typical of other big city hotels, they are not very practical. Some examples are the beautiful glass show enclosure that made it very difficult to get your towel, and you also only get one chance to get the temperature right when you turn on the shower before committing to get in to re-adjust; the sink had a modern fixture that spread the flow of water into an interesting plane of water, but this made it difficult to get a good stream of water on my razor and toothbrush; and the furniture in the room, while very attractive, did not have adequate drawers to store clothes.

Overall I was extremely pleased with our stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: City view rooms cost extra. We did not opt for city view, so our view was of the courtyard, which w...

Green Features: This hotel does not appear to be very environmentally friendly at all. Not only were the bars of soap much larger than they needed to be, but they each came in a separate box which I consider very wasteful. Also as I mentioned in my review, the sink fixture is very wasteful of water.
