Went with friends and had a great time sitting at the bar drinking different beers and eating wings. The bartender keep up with a group of smart donkey engineers and gave it right back at us tit-for-tat, more fun than re-deriving Maxwell’s equations in the original geek. All of the food we ordered was delicious and the atmosphere right even for nerd bikers (Honda Pacific Coast rock). Yes, we will be back next time we’re in town.

This was a great restaurant. We had the wings with thai chilli sauce...you got to try this. We also had the sampler platter with ribs, chicken, beef and pulled pork. This was some of the best barbecue I have ever had. Will come back for more.

We were stuck in Charlotte due to the weather and looked for a BBQ place to experience some good Carolina food. Found this place next to our crappy hotel (Days Inn) and off we went to escape our bed sheet stained hovel. The place smells great, the food was immense, our waitress Sarah (or Sara) was fantastic making sure our drinks were never empty and the atmosphere relaxed. It's so good we re off there again tonight as our rebooked flight got cancelled again!

In Charlotte on weekend of Jan 10-12 for Niners/Panthers game. McKoy's was close to hotel and suggested by staff. It's a very homey sports bar...not at all like ESPN Zone or the like. More of a smoke house with a lot of TVs. Ribs? Succulent. Pooled pork? Moist and tasty. Pot roast? HUGE portions, tender and juicy. All portions are very huge, unless you are a big eater I would suggest that the entrees are more than enough for one person. We did get apps first night and struggled to finish our meals.

Staff was very attentive both nights. Your glass will never hit empty without someone coming by with a refill. Very clean. Top notch. And not expensive at all.

The only thing I didn't love was the coconut pie. Took it to go since we were stuffed. They told us it was their specialty and that the owner's mom makes it herself. Nice story...but so-so pie.

Would return here in a heartbeat if in Charlotte again.

First - be aware this is a sports bar that happens to make amazing tasting food. So - your atmosphere is a bar. But - when we went it wasn't raucous or uncomfortable at all. You will be surrounded by wall to wall TVs with games on, and seating is a little tight.

The food was great. Probably the best mac and cheese I have ever had. Collard greens good too. Cole slaw excellent. BBQ pork was moist, flavorful and a good size portion. Sauces are standard and fine ( you can have eastern or western style). The meat is coarse pulled. Tea was fresh and sweet. They say they make homemade pie but were out so I could not try it.

Service was reasonably friendly and food came out quickly. Drink refills were a tad slow.

Surprise- no bread automatically comes with dinner. I've never eaten at any BBQ place without bread or hush puppies. You have to order and pay separate. Hmmmm. And- prices are higher here than other BBQ places so I would think it would come with it. Go figure.

Bottom line- I will go back. Want to try other items...or just get a fixin' plate! They excel at those! Try it.
