We were very happy with our four-night stay at the Residence Inn-South Park in Charlotte NC. We were in town for a family reunion with our 90-year old Grandmother, and part of our group stayed in three other rooms on the premises. Parking situation was easy. The ladies at the front desk were first rate, whether dealing with the daytime clerk or nighttime one, very, very nice people. They had the crib we needed for our kid, no problem -- taken care of. They were ready for early check in so we could get the kids a nap. The price for a one-room suite was excellent at 109 a night. We were impressed with that too. Rooms were large, kitchen was perfect as usual. The two things we were most happy were the following: 1) We had a place picked out for our reunion gatherings nearly a year ago, but three weeks ago that location let us know that they'd be undergoing renovations and we had to go elsewhere. We had no place to go to just kick back and visit. Well, the Residence Inn staff said "no problem" to us enjoying the lobby area and the outdoor seating area for our pretty low-key impromptu gatherings at night, even though some of the people in our family weren't staying there. They were very, very decent to us each night (sometimes as late as 1 a.m.), and easily could have said "please move this gathering of 20+ somewhere else". Bottom line? The entire group agreed that next time, Residence Inn will get 100 percent of our business for gatherings -- it's the perfect place to have a reunion if you don't have the perfect central location. Don't get me wrong, we were pretty well behaved -- but it was nice that the staff worked with us. It was much appreciated. 2) Also, the ladies working with the breakfast area were second to none. Just outstanding people who wouldn't allow you to go without a drink of juice or a banana if you wanted one and were always willing to help out with the kids. You can't fake that kind of friendliness. And we loved the downstairs lobby area for the meals, spacious and not the typical crammed in feel. Great food too! Different stuff every morning and tasty. I think I should always justify why I don't put all fives when I rate, also: For cleanliness, I just put a four because our kids got under the bathroom sink area and there was some water damage that they got into somehow. Might have been just a one room thing, but it was sort of nasty. Sleep quality wise, it was just above average, not bad -- maybe the bed was just a bit too hard. But it was certainly fine. The rest were clear fives.
