We got to the restaurant with low expectations and were surprised of the quality of food and service.
I will come back for sure!

Great apps and food. Good selection. You can tell by the sauces, cheese, pizza they only use imported or the finest ingreedments. Nice comfy restaurant not to large, but a nice setting for any group. Waitress was great with her recommendatios. Great seafood we had tried the shrimp, the eggplant, there chicken parm and lasanga all home made and brought home left overs from all the main dishes. Been here in Charlotte for over 10 years and have to say The best Italian food I have got here. Hands down.

One of a small chain of 4 restaurants, Portofino's on Eastway is well hidden in an older strip mall, but it's a gem worth finding! Though the atmosphere is small-Italian typical, the food selections are plentiful--from the expected pizzas, to an excellent variety of different pasta dishes (choose the pasta, choose the sauce type), along with typical sandwiches, salads, etc; prices are very reasonable, serving sizes generous. Beer and wine choices are limited, but decent and typically priced. The service, however, excels--thorough, friendly, courteous--a far cry from the average national chains. Drive past the chain spots the next time you are in the north Independence area--you won't regret it!!

Not your typical italian place. Small but cozy. Service was super fast and everyone was friendly. My honey and I usually split meals since restaurants now a days offer HUGE portions and this place was no different! We had the tortellini with probably the best alfredo sauce I have ever had! We also got the homemade tiramisu which is to die for! This was our first time here so I don't know what else is good but I will be returning to find out!

Okay, so that statement not be true. By the same token, it's far from hyperbole, especially if you value things like convenience, service, and, well, value. But let's get to it, after all it's really about the food. And, for lack of a better term, its strong. As in, really, really good. Had an order of chicken parmigiana that was absolutely outstanding. Perfectly breaded and prepared with that bubbling cover of cheese we all love. And the sauce, the essence of any Italian restaurant. Oh my. So fresh, so complex, and that tiny bit of sweetness on the finish. Fantastic. The perfect companion for the side of spaghetti with meatballs that melt in your mouth. Dinner for 2 ran a touch under 40 bucks, and we had enough food to stuff ourselves and do the same with the leftovers the following day. We went to the location at the Arboretum, and it was extensively renovated after they took over the old Avanti Pizza space there. The servers were informative and attentive but not overbearing. If you have the chance to go, don't miss it!
