We enjoy the Grille frequently. It's on par with a Ruth's Chris and its never a dice roll on the steak. Consistant quality with professional and kind staff.

This was a great place to eat in uptown Charlotte. I ordered the vegetable plate because I do not eat meat and there were so many vegetables on the plate I had to take it home! Portions were big!

I have heard a lot about this restaurant since we moved to the Charlotte area. Had the opportunity to dine here during this past weeks, restaurant week. Here is my breakdown:

Ambiance 7/10- Really nice looking restaurant inside, very sharp and rich looking. The only downside was it was quite loud in there, regardless of the high ceilings, Definately a romantic date place though, regardless of the noise.

Service 9/10- Every employee we passed, from the time we walked in, until we sat down and exiting the establishment said hello to us. That was a first and we have been to some of the top restaurants in NYC. The girl waiting our table was great, not overly intrusive and gave us more bread upon request.

Main Dish 8/10- We all had the 8oz filet. It was cooked to order, no issues there and melted in your mouth. Very tender as well, Now it's deemed American food, which they serve, but this is a steakhouse. Sides were savory (mashed potatoes and green beans). So far, Del Friscos has the best filet we have had in the charlotte area. Capital Grille's is one notch below them.

Dessert 8/10- We had the cheesecake and the cloudless chocolate cake. The serving sizes were just a taste, due to us ordering off the restaurant week menu, and we definately wanted more, they were each quite good.

Overall 8/10- Great food hands down, the filet was very good. Definately would go back based on our experience. In looking at the regular prices, the value seemed fair for the quality of the food we ate.

The beef is properly aged, the preparation is exactly as you ask, no false starts, the portions are generous. The side dishes are well flavoured, but not overwhelming. The spices on any of your choices of meat will blend wonderfully and support the meat without overpowering your taste buds, like we found in many so-called Steak Houses. Of course the waiting staff is brilliantly attentive to all details and enhance your experience.

I went there for something called Restaurant Week, which gives you a prefix menu at $30 per person. You get an appetizer, a meal and a dessert.

There is a small wait even when you have a reservation so you can have a drink at the bar, which is a very lively scene.

I had the clam chowder which was tasty, a little salty, but very tasty. I then had the bone-in sirloin (14oz) that was cooked perfectly (I like medium-rare) and was very tender. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans and tomatoes for the entire table. The restaurant let you have as much of the sides as you wanted.

For dessert, I had the fresh berries with cream. The berries were very plump and tasty and very fresh.

My wife had the clam chowder and then the filet mignon that she though was very good and tender.

Prior to the dinner coming out, they delivered a bread basket that had a very good variety. I will say that for the 5 people that we were with, they should've given us another plate of butter. The service was good, but he was slow.

Overall, the staff is very attentive, however, we had to wait quite a bit of time (about 1/2 hour) between the appetizer and the main meal.

I will say that the Capital Grille has one of the best steaks in town. Without Restaurant Week they are a bit pricey, but if you want a special night with a loved one or a good time with friends and family, this is a great place to go.
