First of all, know that the Blumenthal Theatre brings the best of Broadway to uptown Charlotte. The shows are top-notch and the theatre takes great care to survey ticket buyers about what shows they would like to see there in the future. The people are always very friendly and the ticketing is easy, even if you need to make changes. Two problems with the building: the dated wallpaper, paint, and carpet, and the lack of convenient bathrooms. Know that the restrooms are on the Orchestra level only, so if you're in the Grand Tier Circle or higher you will either not want to drink much before you go, or you will need to rush out of your seat and down the stairs to beat the crowd at intermission! The theatre works pretty efficiently with what they have - attendants in the restrooms direct traffic quickly - but more than once I've had to go back into the theatre without making it through the line in time. Parking is a block or two away and can be prepaid at the show which makes for a fairly quick exit from the parking decks. Likewise, intermission concessions can be pre-ordered so long lines are not a problem at the concession stands. Fixing these two problems would take my score to excellent!
