We enjoyed everything about our stay. Staff is very courteous and attentive. Great restaurant, Harvest Moon, attached at street level that serves locally produced food. The location is fantastic, in the middle of the entertainment, restaurant and shopping district.

Very centrally located. Easy to walk to many bars and resturants.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Self park and valet is at the back of the hotel.
Family had three rooms here. Each a little different.

Rooms a little dark. AC could work a little better.
Breakfast included with room was very good.

We stayed at the Dunhill for 2 nights, and if you like boutique hotels you will love the Dunhill. All the staff where amazing, very helpful and accommodating. The room we stayed in was in excellent condition; the a/c was quiet, and there is no charge for the wifi. The lobby and bar area is small but has a real friendly atmosphere. Our complementary breakfast at the Harvest Moon restaurant was very nice. As a real bonus, warm cookies and milk are delivered to you room late afternoon.

If you have never stayed in Charlotte be prepared for 4 levels of State, County, City, and Occupancy tax on your room totaling 15.25%.

I stay here whenever I have to travel to CLT for work. It is right downtown within walking distance of everything. There is a wonderful restaurant right onsite (Harvest Moon) and a small bar. While some of the rooms have small bathrooms, all the rooms I have stayed in are large and roomy. The beds are out of this world comfy. I have the best sleep here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only thing I find myself wanting here is more electrical outlets, but this is an old historic building.

Room Tip: if you don't need a tub, ask for a room with the large walk in showers. The bathrooms are larger...

If you're planning a visit to Charlotte's uptown area, The Dunhill Hotel has it all--location, ambiance, charm--and all the creature comforts one needs for a perfectly delightful stay. From the wonderful staff to the spacious rooms and bathrooms (complete with amenities such as a well-stocked wet bar, plush robes and coffee maker), you won't be disappointed. (In fact, we fell in love with the bedding--it was truly the best night's sleep we've ever had at a hotel!). In addition to its charming southern décor and feel, the hotel also offers an intimate lobby bar and restaurant. With shopping, dining and the arena just a stroll away, The Dunhill Hotel proves a perfect stay for any Charlotte weekday/weekend getaway! Can't wait to return!

We got a special rate through Sniqueaway (now Jetsetter) so decided to stay in a hotel that has been completely renovated but still preserves some of the original historic favor of its late 1920's origin. The room turned out to be a small suite, with a four poster bed at one end, a room-wide wardrobe across the other end, and love seat and large desk sandwiched in between. We were on the 9th floor, just below the penthouse floor, over looking Discovery Place next door. Room was fairly quiet except for an occasional emergency vehicle tearing down Tryon St. Free sodas and waters in the fridge, cookies and fresh milk provided later in the afternoon, and a capsule coffee maker in the room (although canisters of coffee always seemed to be available in the lobby). Much to our surprise, the stay included a free breakfast in the Harvest Moon Cafe next door, which specializes in serving fresh local foods from a 100 mile radius. My wife and I both had the scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, grits, and coffee -- very generous portions, too much to finish, but all very good. Location is just north of the Square and easy walking distance to several good restaurants and other activities. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Dunhill. It is amazingly friendly for one thing: almost all the staff were willing to chat about their views on dining, culture, etc. in Charlotte (if you asked them), and they went out of their way to ensure my visit was pleasant.

The hotel is on the main street in Uptown Charlotte, so one has immediate access to its various restaurants, museums, etc. In this respect it can hardly be bettered.

Its restaurant is the Harvest Moon, where we had our breakfasts. I can't really enthuse about it. My crepe with fruit was pretty poor one morning:it had a big block of cream cheese and too little fruit. The eggs, sausage, and home fries were OK, but I've had better.

My room was clean, well furnished, and quiet. The bed was eminently suited to a good night's sleep, which doesn't come easily to me.

I appreciated the courtesy bottle of water and free wi fi very much. Above all, I appreciated the value and friendliness of this wonderfully situated, historic hotel.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Decades before The Dunhill Hotel would open, local architect Louis Asbury Sr. was entranced by the great Italian craftsmen who created cathedrals famous for their soaring, elegant roof lines. Today, The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline, an amalgam of American, British, and Italian influences, something those with an eye for period detail can detect. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor apartment hotel, with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences, today's Dunhill Hotel is a thoughtful evolution. A full restoration was recently completed, and various on-going aesthetic improvements all share a common goal--to celebrate the original vision of Mr. Asbury, with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler. ... more   less
