My wife and I had dinner at Emzy the other night. A month or so ago we had lunch. The room is nice - fairly small, modern, corporate and impersonal, but not in an offensive sort of way. Our dinner server was excellent - she could not have been better. The food was "nothing to write home about," but was inexpensive. Not counting the cost of a bottle of wine, my wife and I shared a sushi for appetizer and a shrimp main dish, plus we had our own bowls of soup, for under $28, total. I'm just not sure about the food - fresh made or frozen dinner? In any case, I'd be willing to give it another try.
A note about the location. Emzy is stuck into the back corner (open to the street) of the Duke Energy office building in downtown Charlotte. For whatever reason, Charlotte's downtown business district (marketed as "uptown") is impersonal. Store and restaurant fronts are generally separated along the streetscape by blank walls and parking decks, and with mininal signage to attract attention. Thus, you've got to hunt for them. Emzy's location suffers particularly from being somewhat out of the way and isolated, even in this context.
