This is a great location for running a path. There will be lots of people running, walking, and biking on the weekend. There are also great locations to eat around the area and even a farmers market close by!

“A crazy idea ..”

Thought this was nutty when they started putting it together but low and behold, we have a great asset winding through the QC. The rent a bikes have added a whole new fun to it.

“Pretty and worth the walk....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012

We took a walk from uptown to the greenway - it was a very pleasant walk....they took the drainage area and made it into a likable park/greenway that takes you to a great part of town....very nicely done Charlotte......

“Best greenway in the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Start at Freedom Park and rent a bike. They're 8 bucks or so for the day. If there aren't any left at the Freedom Park station, there are a couple more further down the trail. This trail reminds me of San Antonio's Riverwalk.

In between there are plenty of benches and informative displays on rainwater retention, ecosystem habitats, etc. There are also a few restaurants on the way if you get hungry/thirsty. Another good trail in Charlotte is the Clark's Creek/Mallard Creek Greenway in North Charlotte. 8+/- miles of paved trail (with 1.5 miles gravel).

“Beautiful newly landscaped”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

Little Sugar Creek had become an unattractive poorly managed waterway until Charlotte decided to clean it up, restore it to a more natural waterway undoing years of abuse and create a walkway and bike path that would be a jewel in the city instead of an eyesore. They recently finished improving pathways, retaining walls, seating areas, landscaping and gathering areas to hold special events like the Clean and Green Expo and have created a beautiful link in the city that connects Central Piedmont Community College, The Metropolitan shopping center, Kings Ave, Freedom Park and the Nature Museum with a peaceful scenic experience. There are even a few restaurants that have views right onto the greenway. The path really is not long enough for serious cyclists but the surrounding neighbors are worth exploring. Hold your breath if you cruise past Carolina Medical Center at lunch time - the staff is out smoking on the greenway but for the most part, you won't find it crowded during the weekdays. You will get some nice views of uptown Charlotte from the north part of the greenway, but in other locations, because you are mostly below street level, it is easy to forget you are in heart of Charlotte. Hopefully they can extend the greenway - this could become a real landmark for the city.
