We hadn't been to the museum in several years and decided to go on a rainy day while we were in Charlotte. We were surprised to find "Flight 1549 - Miracle on the Hudson" plane there. The day we went; there was one of the survivors there telling about his experience as well as several films playing about the event. Being from New York State; seeing the plane and items from the plane displayed shows that the museum was proud to have the honor of housing such a miracle in aviation. It is a great place to take children to see / learn about aviation history.

I am surprised the Carolinas Aviation Museum isn't better known. If we hadn't seen a daily deal to visit, I'm not sure we would've thought to give it a try. It is very well done with several actual planes, including the unrestored jet from Flight 1549. I was impressed with the detailed information related to each plane on display. There is a nice display of items from Flight 1549, such as the captain's uniform. There are also films to watch along the way. There are a couple of planes you can sit in, too. The museum offers scheduled events from time to time as well. (Check the website for more information.) The museum is currently housed in the former Wachovia hangar. Some planes are outside of the hangar. Very interesting. Recommend.

I didn't expect much from this little museum so I was pleasantly surprised to find that we could easily lose at least 2 hours just walking around. Of course the US Airways "Miracle on the Hudson" was a special treat! It is incredibly well done with lots of pictures and commentary on everything from the flight and landing to the staff on board, to what else made it such a miracle that day besides the fact that it landed on the water with no fatalities. It is awe inspiring. I'm so glad we took the time to go to see it. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Charlotte! It closes early so be mindful of that when you are planning to go there. We got there after it closed but luckily, the director gave us our own private tour. He couldn't have been any kinder.

This museum is small but it's really neat. The Miracle on the Hudson is the best part. To see the actual plane that was pulled from the Hudson River is amazing. There is also a great video showing the events that happened on the day of the crash and interviews with passengers. The admission is a bit expensive but we were able to find a Amazon local deal which cut the price in half. I would recommend visiting this museum.

It was the first time I visited an aircraft museum. The museum is truly amazing. A great treat for people who love aircrafts including kids.
