based on my limited observations, Freedom Park seems to be Charlotte's primary public park which is both shocking and depressing come from Austin which, granted, has more public green space than most cities. The park is lovely but small, and the man-made pond it surrounds smelled terrible. If this is truly Charlotte's biggest and best, they need to seriously consider converting one of their hundreds of private country club golf courses into public space so that people who live farther south have a place to congregate and play.
