Review of Freedom Park

based on my limited observations, Freedom Park seems to be Charlotte's primary public park which is both shocking and depressing come from Austin which, granted, has more public green space than most cities. The park is lovely but small, and the man-made pond it surrounds smelled terrible. If this is truly Charlotte's biggest and best, they need to seriously consider converting one of their hundreds of private country club golf courses into public space so that people who live farther south have a place to congregate and play.

stumbled across this on a cold January morning while visiting Charlotte. WAs pleasantly surprised. Several running trails around a tranquil lake. A nice stone bridge that takes you across to an island. Area contains an amphitheater and bike checkout for the biking trails as well. Even though it was very cold and early in the morning there were a lot of people out jogging so it seems to be well utilized. Not certain if it is considered to be in the upscale Myers Park neighborhood, but if not certainly close to this area.

This park is fantastic! It has great walking/running trails, a beautiful pond with an outdoor amphitheatre and a great kids area with swing sets, slides etc. Perfect for a family stroll or picnic.
