Average stay. Nothing to write home about. Historic building, large rooms. Tired decor but nice staff. A bit fuddy duddy. Nothing memorable about the stay. Restaurant was ok, food was average. Location was ok far away from down town.

This hotel has excellent customer service, which is important to me and made it worth it. Upon making our reservation online, I recieved a personal email offering any extra needed assistance. I requested late check-out since my husband and I had an engagement to get to later in the afternoon on our departure date. Got a quick response and it was no problem. Timely room service. We stayed in a King Suite which was nice- clean, comfy pillows, slippers, robes, in room Starbucks, nice bathroom, plenty of outlets etc. We used both the gym and pool while here. Gym has lots of up to date equipment and a good variety. Nice locker room with sauna. The pool was not as new as it appears the professional photos. It was okay. The hotel is located in a suburban area. This was fine for us since we liked having access to things to do off site but just be aware if you are looking for a retreat that is more off the beaten path.

I give 4 stars overall for a few reasons:
-Biggest downer is you have to pay daily for WIFI. This was very inconvenient because we wanted to be able to search reviews for/directions to places to visit throughout our stay.
-No (usable) refrigerator in the room. Just the one with weighted sensors for their for-purchase alcohol (my husband and I don't drink). We've stayed in resorts before (Cancun, Vegas, etc) so I understand that this is typically how resorts operate, but it is still annoying and inconvenient every time.
-Better fans in the gym would be nice. Not a real complaint, but it would definitely be an improvement.

My daughter's ceremony and reception were held at The Ballantyne hotel on November 8th. Everything from the pre wedding planning to the service on the day was excellent. The staff, from the doorman to catering manager could not do enough to ensure a memorable day and night at this beautiful hotel.

Our daughter just got married Saturday at the Ballantyne hotel. It was picture perfect. The Hotel rooms & amenities were important to us because we had family & friends who were traveling from the northeast. The bride & groom loved the ballroom, the grounds & the grand staircase. They felt the hotel was a perfect venue. I can't say enough about the staff, especially our event manager, Allie Hall, who worked nonstop from the day we booked it to the actual day. It was perfect! The ladies spent the day getting hair & makeup etc and the men hit golf balls walked the grounds or swam in the indoor pool. the reception was a great party and the couple ended the day with a rose petal turn down in their suite.

Room Tip: Ask for golf course view

We were looking for a road trip destination that would be family friendly but comfortable for the grown-ups. The Ballantyne met our every need. When we expressed a need for a little more room because of our children, the front desk staff worked to get us into a junior suite. The gym is totally functional and the indoor pool is a must with the kiddos. The facilities are beautiful, the room is well-appointed and the property is very well-maintained--all the things that you expect from a SPG Luxury Collection property.

What sets this property apart from all the others however, is the service. On our trip to the resort, our older daughter had an accidental spill on her blanket. We knew that she would need it and there was no way that we would be able to use it for the remainder of the trip in its state. The front desk totally accommodated us and laundered it for us with the hotel linens and had it back to us in a couple hours. Then, that evening, that same daughter had a coughing fit and thew up on the blanket. So, at 1:30 a.m. I went down to the front desk for some help. The housekeeping staff member brought up clean linens AND took the blanket and my daughter's clothes and had them laundered again (they reappeared at our door in the morning). This after bringing our daughters cookies and milk before bed. The staff came to know our names and would address our daughters when they would see them in the common areas. As parents of small children, it is so nice and refreshing to feel like your children are welcome guests and not a nuisance to be tolerated with the parents.

We ate all our breakfasts and many of our dinners at The Gallery Restaurant. The staff here is amazing as well. The food and drinks are great, but the staff (special shout out to Billy and Bobby from the dinner service). Billy made sure that we went back with little treats for the girls each night. He was also a treasure in terms of being able to tell us the history of the property and the surrounding area.

The front desk, housekeeping, bar staff, restaurant staff, valet, bellstand staff...all of them were so warm, welcoming and accommodating. The overwhelming sense that we had on our visit there was that everyone was happy to work at the Ballantyne and that each staff member was happy to welcome us as guests.

I've read a previous review regarding noise and we experienced none of that and we were actually on the second floor close to the stairs and the main atrium. We had one incident where my wife and younger daughter sustained scratches from little staples that were sticking out of an ottoman in the bedroom. When we let the front desk know, however, they were very responsive, apologetic and even gave us a free night. This might have been a big deal if everything else wasn't so great, but in the end, the good totally outweighed anything bad.

We will definitely return because this place and all of its people are true treasures.

This is a pretty good spot. There's a nice spa. There's a good restaurant. There's also conference/wedding space, which I don't like. People are friendly. Beds are comfortable. Views of the golf course are nice. Only complaint is that you can hear a lot in the room--neighbors, hall noise, water running from other guests' showers. Location is good-- not necessarily in charming area-- but there is plenty nearby from restaurants and drug stores and nail salons, etc. The Dana Radar golf school is nearby and the hotel sits on a golf course. I brought my clubs with me and they knew how to handle them. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

My husband and I just came back from celebrating our anniversary. Everyone who greeted us were very friendly once we entered the hotel. We requested early check in and the room was ready once we arrived. There was fruit infused water station across from the check in desk. Water was cold and refreshing. We found out that our room was upgrade for free. Room faced the golf course. This my first visit to this hotel and I was very impressed. The entry way inside our room looked like a fabulous hotel lobby with the arch and marble floor. High ceilings, nice crown molding, curtains and bedding. The bed was high which I loved. Bose radio sat on one of the nightstands. Before going to dinner someone knocked on the door with a sweet handwritten card and a pink rose for our anniversary. We left around 4:30 for dinner and a movie. We arrived back around 9:30. A plate was left on the table in our room with chocolate covered strawberries and happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. Also another handwritten card. I thought that was the sweetest thing. Very impressed, because the hotel didn't have to do that. Overall the room was clean and it felt more like a home to me for some reason. The room had normal wear and tear, but it was minimal. I'm only pointing this out because I know that the hotel will take care of this right away. We stayed in room 311. There was quite a bit of mildew at the bottom of the shower, a panel on the face of the tub looked like it was about to fall off, big water spots/stains is located inside the picture above the tub (just the matte probably needs to be replaced) and also water stains in the picture where the chair and ottoman are. (located in the right corner of the matte in frame) I wasn't looking for any problems at all. The minor things were probably easy for me to spot, because it was my first visit to the hotel and I was taking everything in. Last thing...we forgot to request a mini fridge. We called downstairs at 10:30 and someone brought one up within about 10 minutes. The service and overall experience was awesome and we plan to return once a year from now on.
