“Glad we went - so good!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2014 via mobile

We were staying in Charlotte for one night (after a week in MB) as we were flying home out of CLT. It was about 7pm, and with a hungry wife and two young daughters in tow I had to choose something fast. Jumped on Yelp & TripAdvisor and his place caught my attention. I booked a 8:30pm reservation via OpenTable & I'm so glad I did.

Located conveniently in downtown Charlotte, it was easy to park ($5 - BARGAIN) & we only had to walk a block or so to the restaurant. We got there at 8, and once there, we were greeted & seated immediately - which was great because we were 30 minutes early! So far, so good.

To be honest, the food was terrific. Steak tips cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection, veggies cooked properly and everything else - biscuits, drinks, etc. - seemed to pass muster with the girls. Our server, Jacob, was attentive and friendly, and that goes a long way.

In addition to the great food and service, the whole concept of The King's Kitchen is amazing and makes you feel good, as well. It's nice to know that your hard-earned money is being used to help the poor and homeless in Charlotte. Everywhere you looked in the restaurant, there were large photographs of people who benefit from the good deeds of the amazing people who work here. We left full and happy, and our girls learned an important life lesson about charity and kindness. And for all of that, we will be back.

Nice staff, busy environment. I had the fried chicken cooked well and enjoyed at the bar. Great atmosphere for any occasion.

“Solid”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2014

Solid southern fare, nothing really jumps off the page at you. If not for the charitable cause, you would think the atmosphere is way to stuffy and the food way overpriced.

“You must go there!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2014 via mobile

Made reservations for lunch based on TripAdvisor reviews. Then realized it's a non-profit restaurant to help the hungry! What a fantastic concept and a wonderful place to have lunch! Christian music, good Southern cooking and for a good cause. Can't recommend it enough!

“A Good Meal”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

I like this restaurant. They delivered exactly what I expected. It did not taste like a home-style Sunday dinner however, I was not disappointed. The menu is limited however, that was understandable considering how fast they were getting customers in and out. I ordered the fried chicken, mac and cheese and collards. The collards lacked salt, which is not a great deal to me considering every restaurant has it on the table. The mac and cheese was above average but not better than Mert's or Queen City Q's (which are both less than two miles away). The chicken was good, but nothing extraordinary. The atmosphere was really nice and contemporary. The outside seating option was also a plus.
