“Loved this spot!”

Great menu, atmosphere, service and food. Went with locals and that's just what this place screams - a very popular local restaurant with a lively bar side and accommodating family side.

“Would not recommend”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

From the very beginning to the very end of this visit, it was a pretty much a bad experience. The only saving grace was the food was decent and our server TRIED to be decent and the restauant was in a nice neighborhood location. I was there with a group of 5 people and we waited 5 min just for the host to appear then when he did show up, he was very cold, monotone and uninviting (not what you want on a Friday night dinner out) he told us it would be 20 minutes for us to get sat but he looked like he was solving an extremely difficult algebraic equation to figure out that number. We told him inside or outside was fine by us and he said ok. We waited outside and 40 minutes passed by while another family of 5 waited PATIENTLY in front of us. During that time, I noticed multiple servers running around looking beat up and STRESSED. No one looked happy to be there. I also noticed a table of 5 people get up to leave outside before our eyes. I Figured it would go to the family of 5 ahead of us but NO, it went to TWO people who had just walked up. Here we all are waiting outside forever and this couple walks right up with no reservation and gets sat immediately at an outside table for Five while we all sat outside wondering what was going on. Meanwhile the host kept promising we were just a few more minutes away from sitting. We finally got sat 45 minutes after we were told 20. The table was cramped, the atmosphere kind of dreary and the service was sloppy and slow. I could go into detail further but the rest of the experience maintained as badly as it started and you can see where I'm going. I would not recommend this place during any kind of busy times. I never saw a manager or any leadership and it looked like a madhouse all night. It reminded me of that show on the food network called restaurant impossible with Robert Levine. He would have a field day with this staff. Maybe this place is ok during slow times but I'm not going back.

Thank you for your review and feedback on our service issues. I am very sorry that your first experience with us was not 100% enjoyable! As a family owned and operated establishment we strive to make all of our guests feel warmly welcomed, and that obviously was not the case during your visit. I am going to present your review to our staff so that we may all work together to make sure that this sort of situation does NOT occur again!

“Great Pizza!”
Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

Thin crust pizza with pear and Gorgonzola, very tasty we enjoyed it very much. On Mon. and Tues, bottles of imported wines are half off. Dined outside, cannot comment on inside decor. Service was good too! Near the Duke Mansion in Myers Park. We will definitely be back!!

I am so happy that you enjoyed your visit! The Grilled Pear & Gorgonzola Pie was an excellent choice...next time try the Grilled Sauteed Spinach Pie (it's my personal favorite :) We've also made some excellent renovations to our patio and garden, so if your happen to come on another Monday or Tuesday evening you can enjoy your half-priced bottle outside. Hope to see you soon!

“Nice Place, a Local's secret.... Gluten Free Pasta!!!”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We were the only table from out of town, it was recommended by a local. There was not an open table, about a 5 - 10 min wait time. Fantastic food and I was able to eat Pasta with the Gluten Free Menu!!

“Great Place to Relax With Family and Friends”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

We had a recommendation for this restaurant from a local. You can sit inside or at a few outside tables. There was a football game on the TV, so we opted for the inside seating. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. Several of the dishes are homemade. The spaghetti with meatballs was excellent. It was served in a large bowl with high sides (smart). The creme brulee with pears was outstanding! We'll be going back on our next trip to Charlotte. After reading the other reviews, we must try the pizza!
