Description: Rí Rá opened its doors for the first time on March 14th, 1997. The pub survived a major fire in 2009 and will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2017. Meticulously restored in Ireland and shipped to the US, Rí Rá embodies everything that you would expect from a genuine Irish pub. The pub has been carefully restored from old Irish pubs and related salvaged artefacts including an original shop bar, a 19th century Victorian bar. The pub and fire restoration required a tremendous effort from a select group of master carpenters, glazers and painters. We are proud to showcase a unique and genuine Irish pub in Uptown Charlotte.

We had brunch there on Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere was nice. Our waiter was really Irish which was great, although we did have a little trouble with his accent.
We ordered the Potato Cakes with Duck Comfit and Guinness Stew. The food was very good.

When asked if the pies were made fresh, I was assured that they were. Indeed, based on the consistency of the vegetables, they used frozen ingredients to "make" the pies, and the potato topping for the pies was made from instant potatoes, which really detracted from the flavor. I would not eat here again.

I went to Ri Ra with a group from work for a late dinner and drinks. The menu was typical fare for an Irish themed pub and we found the food to be good - not great. No one raved about their food but all found it acceptably good. The service was outstanding and the drink selection very good. Would I return to or recommend Ri Ra to a friend? Maybe but not likely. There are many very good places to eat in uptown Charlotte. I think we could do better.
