Perfect lake vacation! Lake Norman is as relaxing or thrilling as you want it to be....from paddle boarding, relaxing on the dock to boating and jet skiing. Your are less than two hours from the mountains if you want to take a day and go up to Boone, Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lake front rental is the way to go! This lake is so beautiful with so much shoreline! There are marinas that will rent out boats and jet skis if you don't have your own. So many great restaurants! Only 30 minutes from the city of Charlotte, and in the hub of all the Nascar stuff if you like that. Historic Terrell Country Store and mini golf minutes away. Shopping and movie theaters nearby for a rainy day. So much fun and so peaceful. So enjoyable for mom and dad.....and the kids ranging from 7 to young adult!

“Inland Sea”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

Lake Norman is a great boating destination...whether you want to cruise the 500+ miles of shoreline to check out lakeside mansions, swim, sunbathe or tie up with friends in a quiet cove, or take a moonlit cruise with a bottle of wine and your favorite Jimmy Buffett CD, this biggest manmade lake in North Carolina is perfect for boating, tubing, water skiing and hanging out...One seasonal tip for folks who typically don't go on the lake in the winter, many homeowners (including yours truly) decorate the backs of the houses, docks and boats during the winter holidays and with the lights bouncing off the water, makes for a wonderful early evening (get's dark early) with a flask of hot chocolate and your favorite holiday tunes playing...Used to be the same for 4th of July celebrations, but this tends to bring out too many inexperieced boaters and safety becomes an issue, so stay clear of the masses, or watch from shore...

“Loved it so much I had to move here..”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

I found Lake Norman by accident during business travel. My plane had to do a "go around" while landing in Charlotte. When I saw the lake I had to "google" it. After 4 years of visiting at different times of the year, we decided to move here. Great restaurants, people, 35 mins to either the airport or downtown... not to mention 530 mile of shoreline and lake views. LKN is the 94th largest lake in America. If you can find something fun to do here... you might have issues.

“Sunset was amazing”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

We reached the lake at 6 PM ET. The perfect time to enjoy the sunset. There was no crowd because it was a Tuesday and lake was so calm. The sunset was a awesome scene to watch.
The swimming area was blocked and we could not swim. Nice place to spend some relaxed time.

“Just Beautiful”

It is amazing that this is a man made lake. It has stunning views from one place after another. You can see many different types of birds and sunset photography is a must.
