Lake Norman has so much to do, it would take days to explore it. From boating, fishing, shopping and eating you can find it all. Sandbar in the summer is the place to party,.

The lake is quite large with may coves and inlets. There are not that many places to access the lake if you don't live in it or have a boat (there are a several marinas and boat put ins). For those without boat access Jetton Park (Cornelius) and Latta Plantation (Huntersville) though small, both have some nice picnic areas on the lake (though no swimming allowed) and some short walking trails. Lake Norman State park in Troutman actually has swimming access and hiking and mt biking trails. Several of the marinas rent boats or jet skis and Aloha Paddleboards has paddle board lesions and may rent boards too. There are a few areas that are very crowded on weekends in the summer where boats raft up and party or coves that are quite but many boats anchor to hang out and swim. The rest of the lake is pretty quite especially weekdays, when school is in session and as you head further north.

We rented a pontoon boat for a cruise around Lake Norman. We originally rented the boat for four hours, but we had so much fun we called the rental company and requested to keep the boat all day.
The Lake is huge and the views of the beautiful homes are amazing. We are very amatuer boaters, but we had no problems navigating around the Lake.
For those who ski or enjoy water sports, the Lake is just the place for you. We will definitely rent another boat and enjoy time on the Lake during our next visit to Charlotte.

Lake Norman is enormous. There are so many small coves, you can always find a great place to ski, tube or swim.

as we did not come across much info about it, we just stopped off at a small cove which was very peaceful, bur probably missed out on the prettiest parts. Cannot remember the name of the area, but there was no noticeboard for information.
