A few large parks with lots of grassy areas to view the lake from. It's not a long drive from Charlotte, which makes it a wonderful place to escape city life for a few hours. Enjoy the lake, and enjoy dinner in the area..

Lake Norman is a huge lake and really is best enjoyed from a boat. There are so many fingers on this lake, it would take weeks or months to explore. We had the opportunity to explore with my son and daughter-in-law, who just purchased a boat. I was impressed with the number of boat launches, and the number of launches at each public access.

The lake is huge and very popular. The Landmark is a great out of the way place to get Ostrich burgers or ribs! Wouldn't know it from the outside!

It's a great place for a picnic and peace and quiet overlooking the lake. Lakes are wonderful places of water. It has benches and tables laid out around and nice little pathways to walk around. Pretty area.

Lake Norman State Park has a couple hiking trails that are fun, especially the trail that follows the shore. Other than that, I don't know what is so special about Lake Norman. It would be much prettier to look at if it wasn't surrounded by highways and mansions. And there are not a whole lot of activities in this area that are centered around the lake unless, of course, you own a boat or like to fish.
