Owner description: Located in what was the original branch of the United States Mint, Mint Museum Randolph opened in 1936 in Charlotte’s Eastover neighborhood as the state’s first art museum. Today, in a beautiful park setting, intimate galleries invite visitors to engage with the art of the ancient Americas, ceramics and decorative arts, fashion, European and African art, among other collections. Resources include a reference library with over 18,000 volumes, a theater featuring lectures and performances, and a museum shop offering merchandise that complements both the permanent collection and special exhibitions.

Love the collections and the setting of the new uptown location is awesome. It is right next door to the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, so you can make it a day full of art.

We spent about three hours there and were mightily impressed, having toured art museums in many other cities and countries.
How fortunate Charlotte is to have such a WONDERFUL showcase. Had lunch (snacks, actually) at the in-house restaurant, which overlook the main street. That was lovely, as well.

I recently attended a function at the Mint (Uptown Location) and was very impressed with the exhibits and displays of art. I particularly enjoyed the "Pins of Madeleine Albright" - fascinating! The modern structure is also a very interesting contrast to the traditional church building located right across the street. Overall a great experience - enjoy!

The facility and location downtown can't be beat. The art is interesting but not inspiring, in my opinion. I went when it was free. Not sure if I would have enjoyed it if it wasn't. Not many paintings or traditional sculptures. Many more composition pieces, which isn't my taste.

The Mint Museum in downtown Charlotte has everything good going for it except parking. Artworks are outstanding and the floor layout is set to explore, gaze and critique. Collections are changed often to keep displays fresh. More people would travel here if their parking tab was specially priced. If you're lucky, you may get street parking but it is not guaranteed. The day my daughter and I visited, our parking tab was $16. Hello, Charlotte!
