Great museum, I learned a lot of things that i did not know about the south, slave economy and civil rights. The info was presented in many different ways, video, audio, artifacts and recreations. I would recommend for kids over 10 and everyone else.

This is a history museum that encourages learning through touch and experience not just reading captions under pictures. You get tactile learning by standing in sharecroppers cabins, listening to music, touching cotton. It adds up to a powerful experience.

Great mix of US and Charlotte history for a reasonable cost. This museum has a pretty good unbiased account, as well as pretty good exhibitions.

Visited with a friend who had never been to NC before. He was amazed at the details and extensive history on the racially divided South and the story of slavery. He kept asking 'was this for real?' The exhibits are accurate and informative and don't sugar coat the history of NC, the southern states and the fight for equal rights.

informative museum about the old and the new south. Great exhibits showing what life was like for both poor whites and blacks before civil rights happened. Good visual exhibits, cotton fields, spinning mills, living conditions, Belk department store, barber shop. Plan to spend at least 90 minutes. Art gallery upstairs.
