What a perfect spot to be treated like a queen at a very reasonable price!..........Old Hotel redone recently I think..NOT a party place but right on campus and close to great little shops etc etc.....clean clean clean ..feels like home..plush deep carpets, quiet hallways, perfect staff, perfect valets, cozy rooms beds with 6 pillows, beautiful views, real furniture, I heard they have a great cafe and restaurant but didn't eat there. They think of everything......

We found a good bed & breakfast deal over the 4th of July weekend and booked our stay. Our first surprise was the $10 parking fee. We had eaten at the Carolina Inn several times and never had to pay to park. The best part of our stay was having high tea in the lobby. The tea hostess was very knowledgeable and the food and tea were delicious. The clerk who checked us in and out was efficient but not real pleasant. The location is both a plus and a minus. It's right on the edge of campus but that also means noise from car and people traffic. I also have a gripe against bathrooms with no counter space around the sink. There appears to be only one elevator, and one time we shared it with a maid and her cleaning cart. Both the fitness room and business center are miniscule. Breakfast was delicous. When my wife inquired about acquiring a newspaper, she was told the NY Times was $6!!! We'll come back for the food but perhaps not to stay.

Since I have a kid, I requested to change the room type to two double beds. In order to change the room type, they required me to pay additional $25. The room with one bed was very small and had no window. It was my first time to sleep at a room without a window. Actually, there was a hole of about two feet by one foot but it was hard to call it a window. Lady at check in was kind of rude.

Our stay was, as always, greatly enjoyed. The hotel is elegant yet feels like home, and is reminds one of the classic compliment "southern hospitality." Groomed lawns, magnolia trees, terrace cafes and business centers work well together here to create a unique environment missed in chain hotels.

This hotel is in the best location if you want to be near everything. It's located halfway between Franklin Street and the campus of UNC.

We stayed here for two nights, (Friday night and then two days later on Monday). We had a great experience with the staff. Our first night was a 3rd floor room, Very clean, immaculate room. The second night was a 1st floor room. The only problem was that the shower head was wobbly and wouldn't stay in position. I told the front desk at check out and they wrote a ticket to get it fixed.

As far as price. We used priceline and got a real good deal for each nights stay. The only issue I had was the difference in 'add-ons' between the two stays. Friday night we got free parking and a room with two Queen beds for no additional cost. On Monday there was a $10 fee to self park and a $20 fee for a room with two Queen beds. Both fees were not abnormal but they were inconsistent with our stay just two days earlier. I pointed this out to the desk and they offered free breakfast but our day was already planned and breakfast at the Inn didn't work with our schedule.

We will return.

I took my 18 yo daughter to her college orientation and spent a night at this Inn on the way home. First of all, the room was very damp, musty and couldn't be cooled, no matter what I did. It was small but I must admit, the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was disgusting; mildew everywhere. The toilet wouldn't flush on the first try every time. I found the desk staff to be very stuffy and unhelpful. The best part of the stay was the breakfast. It was sumptious and worth the price. Overall, this could be such a nice place, if only they would try harder.

We stayed for two nights while attending new student orientation- the room was perfect, staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful- fresh fruit, yummy oatmeal, as well as eggs, breakfasts meats, etc. This has quickly become my favorite hotel
