“Very nice!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2012

Nice little hotel with lots of amenities, including computer access and free breakfasts! (which we didn't have a chance to take advantage of, due to our schedule). Loved the big walk-in shower. If you get a room with a balcony, make sure it overlooks Franklin Street; unfortunately, our balcony overlooked the parking lot of the Italian restaurant next door, complete with dumpster! Very clean and comfortable beds, friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: If you request a room with a balcony, make sure it doesn't face the restaurant parking lot next...

Having stayed at the Franklin Hotel before, I expected to have a great experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I had reserved a 5th King Penthouse room and was given the smallest room in the hotel. There was barely room to walk around the bed. The only other availability was a room with 2 queens or a handicapped room with a King that we had to take. Parking was also a problem and we had to park further away in an overflow parking lot. The complimentary breakfast was cold and not impressive. The only thing this hotel had going for it was the location. Will not stay here again!

Dear Lisa F,

Thank you for sharing your comments about your experience at our hotel; we are so sorry that we failed to deliver the great experience you've come to expect from your previous stays with us. It was a pleasure speaking with you recently, and we have used your feedback to take a few steps:

1. We've re-named the room type in our reservation system to avoid confusion
2. We are installing better parking signage
3. We've implemented a new temperature control system to keep our free morning breakfast hot and tasty.

Again, thank you for your feedback and we hope to serve you again in the future!

I stayed here to visit my daughter, the hotel being right near Granville Towers. I was I was impressed with the high level of service, big room, comfy bed, big shower and excellent free breakfast. Better than he majority paid breakfasts I've had.
One of the lamps was partially broken and 2 bulbs were out but I look forward to coming back here

I really enjoyed my stay at the Franklin hotel. Easy access to parking. Fantastic, made-to-order, complimentary breakfast. The room was beautifully decorated. I enjoyed sitting out on the balcony overlooking Franklin Street. The service was great too -- very friendly staff! And Free Wi-Fi! :)

Room Tip: Ask for a Balcony Room.

We had a great stay at The Franklin Hotel. The location can't be beat, the ambiance is very pleasant, and the people were friendly. Loved the atrium in the center of the hotel giving it an open, airy feel. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and speedy. And finally, the cookies at the reception desk were far too tasty!

A very well appointed hotel with a quaint feeling yet a very nice range of amenities and service. Rooms are well furnished, many with balconies overlooking the street or university in the distance. Several common areas offer spots for groups to meet up and relax. Breakfast is included in most rates and is worth the time to enjoy in the nice dining room on the 2nd floor.

Room Tip: Ask what view you have, but also remember Franklin street is a common party strip for the students...

Here for three nights on a business trip and chose to stay at this hotel based on the website, reviews and location. Had no idea that Franklin Street in Chapel Hill was home to so many great shops and restaurants and bars, so the location turned out to be an amazing bonus!

My room was exceptionally clean and had all of the amenities I needed including nice terry robes, loads of fluffy luxurious towels, well appointed bathroom, great blowdryer, nice toiletries, etc.

The bed was loaded down with amazing comfy pillows and high thread count, luxurious white sheets and duvet cover. Shams and decorative pillows and bedspreads were lovely, and removed at turndown - one of the things I appreciate most in a luxury hotel and for the hygiene factor.

My room had a nice terrace overlooking Frankin Street, and although I did not have time to enjoy it, I think if you are traveling here on leisure it would be lovely to have. Overlooking Franklin Street on a Saturday night is noisy however, so keep that in mind and set your expectations accordingly.

Because of a function in the hotel, I did have some problems sleeping because of noise, but upon request, the MOD moved me, personally, to another room at a time that fit my schedule. The design of the hotel renders some rooms - such as the street facing or internal atrium lobby facing, noisier than others, but the staff seems very willing to help you choose a room based on your priority - terrace, view, quiet, etc.

The room colors, furnishings, etc are really lovely, and the hotel public spaces and room itself were spotless. The lounge area was nice for a cocktail and the included breakfast is very good.
In room coffee makers are a nice touch as well for a non-chain hotel.

Free internet is fast and reliable.

In addition to David, we had great service by the breakfast waiter/bartender, and by Mario who arranged a car service for us, and other staff members who made reservations, booked a massage for me, and helped us with directlons, etc.

I hope to return soon and would absolutely stay here again for any travel in this area.

Room Tip: Ask the staff to recommend a room if quite is important to you; the terraced rooms are lovely in siz...
