If you are anywhere near Chapel Hill, you owe it to yourself to visit the UNC campus and nearby Franklin Street. Be prepared to walk and it is a bit hilly, but the entire campus is truly beautiful.
We were surprised to see that a unnamed Confederate Statue still stood in the yard amidst beautiful old trees. We were not aware of the local efforts to have it removed. A couple of days later we awoke to a news report that what we now know was "Slient Sam" came tumbling down one evening by the hands of protesting students. The grounds are still beautiful and a guess new visitors will see an empty podium at the current time.
Agreat school with a great history. Famous for basketball, tradition and Franklin street for college town. Get good grades if you want to attend.
We enjoyed visiting the campus. It was a welcoming town and we loved it! We especially loved the easy access to so many restaurants.
I am probably biased as a NC native and the mother of a child attending UNC, but this campus is hard to beat. It's gorgeous, with beautiful architecture, lovely shaded areas to help escape the heat and such a welcoming community.
UNC has a charm factor that one doesn't find at every university. It's worth taking time to walk about, sit by a fountain, and just take in the beautiful grounds. While it might not come up to the beauty of UVA, it is a great place to visit.
