Our group of 4 enjoyed the variety, tastes, textures, flavor and presentation of the various courses of the chef's tasting menu. The vegetarian options were great. A paired wine option (not offered) would have made this the perfect meal. The wine bottle options were extensive and trended on the pricey side but there were some more reasonable options.

This was one of the finer meals I have had in several years. Four of us on a Thursday night, and we opted for the Chef's Tasting menu. One of us is a vegetarian and they substituted each course for her appropriately without question. It was a 5 course meal and each was beautifully presented, unique in the combination of ingredients and most importantly, delicious. The influence of The French Laundry is apparent. Being a tasting menu, the portions are small. This was perfect for our evening meal, but a younger, heavy eater would leave the table hungry.

For the wine we opted for a Washington State blend as suggested on the menu. It was delicious, and eliminated the need to pour through an extensive and cumbersome wine list.

The service was first rate - prompt but not pushy, and very professional in explaining the intricacies of each course. The atmosphere is open and sparse. In other words, not much atmosphere.

We were all very pleased and impressed and will definitely return.

We had the pleasure of having dinner with friends at One the other night. Several observations. The food is excellent, well prepared and the presentation is amazing. The wine list by the bottle is also extensive, albeit most are high priced. It was hard to find a good bottle under $90.00. Wines by the glass were limited. The wine list was presented on a tablet which made viewing the list easy, it was well organized, but a table of contents would have been nice so you could easily go to the page you wanted with the wines of interest, like Cabs, or French reds, etc. Unfortunately, those are the only positive things I can really say. The menu was cryptic at best. Lists of ingredients may seem interesting for the chef, but made it impossible to understand what a dish actually was. When the waiter asked if he could be of any help, we said, yes, explain everything on the menu since we had no idea of what a dish was, how it was prepared, etc. Very frustrating. The tasting menu sounded good, but they required the entire table to have it, which was also unfortunate and unworkable. More flexibility would be helpful. The service was excellent, BTW. The menu items were also very expensive for what was served. Portions are very small, albeit well prepared, tasty and with a perfect presentation. The ambiance of the restaurant is stark and industrial. Very cold and uninviting. The open kitchen is nice to see, but the din of noise coming from the fans, blowers, etc created an industrial hum in the restaurant. There was no piped in music and no art work on the walls. No table cloths. We made a reservation for 4, and they took us to a large enough table, but only had a setting for 2. Not sure why they couldn't get that right.
I'd suggest that the prices be reduced across the board. The menu, although very creative and excellent, is limited. If they put pictures of the dishes on a Tablet rather than a flimsy paper menu, that certainly would have been helpful.
Although the food was excellent, it is pricey, wines are also expensive, the industrial feel is uninviting (it could be well done and friendly, but this environment was not), the environment did not invite us to stay and linger. Overall, excellent food, over-priced, poor atmosphere, and unfortunately, we'll more than likely not be back. There are a lot of other restaurants between Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh that are excellent.

Group of six adults. Only a few duplicate orders occurred among our starters, main courses, and desserts; but we sampled each other's dishes methodically (and I trust without conspicuous fuss). Without exception, every dish was seriously and lingeringly interesting and everything contained some unexpected pleasure that brought smiles (outside) and contentment (inside). Service was as friendly and deft as could be, although somewhat slow at points. The prevailing object seemed to be to give patrons a genuinely satisfying experience of excellence and elegance without any false note of pretentiousness. We were all charmed, and will certainly return as promptly as possible.

We just enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner. Our meal was absolutely fantastic and the service impeccable. Each selection was carefully crafted with creative flare. Even the cranberry sauce had ginger infused into the recipe. Kudos to the chef for new twists on traditional dishes. We will be sure to return to enjoy another fine culinary experience!
