Casual fun place close to campus. I loved the Reuben Fatayer. Place is very busy during peak times. Great variety you cannot go wrong.

One goes about various parts of the Deli and selects from a large variety of Middle Eastern Delicacies. The smell of freshly baking pita bread is intoxicating. You are then served at a table and go about the business of choosing from a variety of sauces and toppings. This restaurant is very, very good, inexpensive, and presents a wonderful eating experience!
What an amazing place! There is a huge variety of food and the portions they give you are overly generous. We went there for lunch--I had the lamb kabob with two side items. For one side I picked the palestine fruit salad and the other was one of the many types of humus (I don't remember which one). The dish was delivered to me along with a huge serving of rice (and of course the pita for the humus). All was delicious and there was too much on the plate for me to finish it all. My companions ordered other items and they too were thoroughly satisfied. This is a restaurant NOT TO MISS when you go to Chapel Hill.
We enjoyed the food options and the atmosphere that is vibrant.
food is great for vegetarians and meat eaters alike.
Mediterranean Deli is a "go-to" staple for lots of folks in town including me. We often carryout. They are known for their catering as well. The food is fresh, flavorful and consistently great. You don't have to worry about the beef kabobs being tender one time and tough the next. The variety is superb.
With a better atmosphere, I would give it 5 stars. The tables are close together and the place is open, loud and crowded. You order at the counter and then they deliver your food to the table. Soft drinks are self-serve. They have beer and wine.
