My family loved this hotel!
We stayed in the deluxe double room. It had a loveseat, comfortable chair, and a desk and chair. The room was very classy looking. The bathroom was all marble and granite and decorated in a sharp hollywood regency modern style. There was no tub, but a large marble tiled shower with a tiled shower seat. The room and bathroom were immaculately clean, which if you have read my other reviews, you know that is important to me.
The air conditioning system was the best of any hotel I have stayed in. It cooled the room quickly when necessary, and responded well to adjustments to the thermostat. There were three fan speeds. The air conditioning left the room with a fresh clean crisp air feel, none of those smells in the rooms like some other hotels. It had a door/window that opened if you wanted air from the outside.
The beds were nicely appointed and comfortable.
Some of our family were in the standard double rooms, which were smaller, but still had the nice bathroom, just not the loveseat. They loved their room and the hotel also.
The restaurant was terrific. Not your standard fare; I had eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were not greasy but rather were just perfect, prepared with, I believe, pancetta. The bacon was applewood smoked. Usually I dont like flavored bacon, but this was great! Nothing was over flavored; just perfect.
The hotel is about two miles from the UNC campus, not walking distance for most. But because of thisit was very quiet. Yet it was just a four or five minute drive to downtown Chapel Hill. They also had a shuttle they offered to take us in, but we had our own cars. The rooms were quiet too by the way. I didnt hear anyone in the hallway, or other rooms, or any of those hotel sounds that wake you up; the hotel was pretty full judging by the cars in the lot, but was very quiet. Perhaps the deluxe rooms, being at the end of the corridor, are quieter than others. I will definitely spring for the deluxe rooms again next time I go. They were not that much extra, I dont think.
There was plenty of shopping, grocery stores, etc close to the hotel.
There was a nice outdoor lounging area in the front of the hotel, and the lobby was beautiful and elegant.
All in all, we were all very pleased!
