Embassy Suites by Hilton Raleigh - Durham/Research Triangle
Ranked #4 of 23 Hotels in Cary
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 26, 2008

We stayed here on our way down to Myrtle Beach on July 15, 2008. With two adults and three kids we try to stay at Embassy Suites Hotels with their large two room suites. We are used to the large spacious rooms at Embassy Suites but were pleasantly surprised at how much larger the rooms were at this Embassy Suites in Cary, NC. As is with most Embassy Suites, the rooms and public areas were immaculate and staff very accommodating. The Manager's evening special is wonderful and their signature made-to-order breakfast is worth getting up for. Your omelettes are made while you wait plus there is a large buffet - excellent. Pool is a nice size, the water warm and the exercise room great. If you are thinking of staying in or around Raleigh, NC, go with the Embassy Suites in Cary, NC. You won't be disappointed. My only caveat is - watch if there are sports groups staying at the Hotel, with a large booking, the hotel can seem noisy and crowded, especially at breakfast time.

We stayed at the hotel with our daughter's softball team which was participating in a tournament. This hotel was great for that purpose. I'm not so sure I would have wanted to be a guest there otherwise during this time! There were about 6-7 other teams staying at the hotel as well. The staff were very courteous and helpful, check-in was easy and quick. The rooms were clean and spacious but in need of updating. Looked like early 90's peaches and green colors. Not enough drawer space! and no fan in the bathrooms??!! When the AC was set too warm, the room became damp. Beds were comfortable. Awesome breakfast but only from 6-9 am during the week and 7-10 or something like that on weekends. They did stay open, though after 9 am because there were so many people. The manager's happy hour was great too. Pool area was small but clean. But like a previous reviewer said - very slick. We had numerous kids fall and one of the adults in our group as well. It's very hazardous. The restaurant in the hotel was great. The food and service was awesome. Overall I would recommend this hotel especially to families with kids that need a little extra space. We had no problem with noise from the atrium - stayed on one of the upper floors. Staff was very accomodating and patient with all the kids running around. Overall great experience and we'd stay there again.

We stayed here with our three young children. The rooms were clean and suited our needs. There is a great free breakfast you will definitely want to take advantage of and the complimentary drinks in the evening. Our only complaints were that the swimming pool area was extremely slick and that they do not offer free internet access. Overall though it was a good hotel.

Urg.
What a nightmare.
First off, they have the worst selection of TV channels ever...there are only, like, 10 and they are GRAINY. Also, there is no free Internet. You have to PAY FOR WIRELESS ACCESS.
Not that bad, yet.

In the morning, we got up to go to get a complimentary breakfast at 9:45. The times for breakfast were not posted anywhere and were not told by anyone when it was. We thought it would be until 10, like most hotel chains. However, when we got there, there was nothing. The staff was cleaning up. We asked when breakfast was over and the staff cleaning the place said "Right now". Not any specific time.
They also did not open until lunch until after 11:00. No one offered to get us a cup of coffee or a piece of fruit or cereal or anything.
We went to the front desk and asked where we could get a cup of coffee. They said Starbucks...and that the hotel shuttle could take us there. We told them about how we were a family, so it took us awhile to get started in the morning and that we were not going to Starbucks just for a cup of coffee. When we asked when breakfast was, they said it was "over".
They also didn't offer any help.
Terrible Customer Service.
Especially for $200 a night.
What a ripoff.
I will not stay at this property EVER AGAIN and I WARN YOU AWAY FROM IT.
Stay at a Hampton Inn or something. They have free wireless, better TV, and an excellent complimentary breakfast for half the cost.
I would have if they weren't full in the Cary area.

Great service and nice setting but…. A major refurbishment is needed of both soft and hard goods. Avoid the weekends if you want piece and quite!

This hotel truly needs some loving care. A great hotel but the rooms smell kind of funky and there are lots of crumbs and dust. Good staff and service but bad breakfasts.

Watch out for weekend groups such as: 50 soccer kids and their soccer parents, or the “Smith Family Reunion.” Embassy Suites’ atrium layout allows for these groups to take over the whole hotel! You’re guaranteed not to sleep on the pull out sofa not only because the mattress is cardboard but also the noise from the atrium is horrendous.

I stayed here the last week of April for a wedding. The room was clean and comfortable. Very nice bed, great amenities, and excellent cooked-
to-order breakfasts. Good location-close to airport, very good cheesesteak diner across the street (up the hill).

My company recently hosted an evening reception at this hotel for local doctors in the area. The food was absolutely horrible! We received several complaints from doctors in the audience regarding the poor quality of food. I was there personally and found the food to be of the lowest quality. It was embarrassing to say the least. To make matters worse, the hotel refused to do anything about it. They wouldn't even credit us back a simple $400 charge for renting the room to make up for the complete dissatisfaction.

If you are with a professional organization looking for a place in the area to host an event - be forewarned - the hotel isn't that nice, the food is horrible and the lack of attention to customer satisfaction and quality is way below industry standards.
