Visited for a spontaneous dinner recently. Location is nice overlooking harbour, initial service was good. The waiter was excellent for example. However as we were sitting outside we got attacked by flies which got worse when the food arrived. The meals were two adult and two kids were okay, César salad was the best but again we were expecting great seafood and it was the usual selection of over creamed sauces with small shrimp. Perhaps if burgers and sandwiches would have been better and the flies were seasonal. Other minor gripes included no cutlery so I had to go and find some as other waiters on our table were not interested in helping us plus second round of drinks took so long we had finished our meals before they arrived. But a very nice waiter kinda made up for some of this.

When visiting Carolina Beach (better known as CB) don't miss Gibby's. They do it all, great breakfast, lunch, dinner, live music and late night bar food. Here are a few tips from a local who goes there all the time: breakfast the omelets are great, lunch their salads are to die for, their chowder is the 2013 Chowder Cook Off winner and well deserved. Try the Shelby Fried Green Tomatoes and the Banging Shrimp. Most nights they have a band, some times rock, blues or country. You can never tell but always fun. Sunday afternoons are great with a make your own Bloody Mary, music and football or SIT OUTSIDE one of e few places on the island with water access and what a view. Dock your boat and enjoy. Ask for Lori, Liz or Lionel they are my favorite servers. Come visit CB and don't miss this spot!

Our party of 9 stopped here for supper. Gibby's is located in the heart of Carolina Beach and is a very busy area. The first thing I noticed when walking through the door was the honky tonk country music playing over the sound system and the very casual atmosphere of the restaurant in general. The music made it somewhat difficult to carry Ina conversation with the people sitting on the other end of the table.
I ordered the Dockside Combo, my choice was fried flounder and a Maryland style crab cake. The flounder was the size of a small zucchini, had too much batter and the taste was just okay. The crab cake was tender a flaky, seasoned perfectly and the Spicy Bistro Sauce that was served with it was the icing on the cake! I ordered a side garden salad with Apple Vinaigrette dressing. The veggies were fresh & the dressing was wonderful. Other items ordered by our party was Blackened Mahi which was described as bland & dry, the grilled shrimp was very good, seared scallops were good, not great. The ribeye steak was excellent, tender and seasoned well and the Greek salad was also excellent. A other ordered the Seafood Medley & Pasta. He said the cream sauce was a little heavy but tasted great. The grilled chicken sandwich was said to be very good and the fish and chips were lousy. The side vegetables were tasty and the sweet potato fries were also tasty.
Our waitress was friendly and courteous and kept our drinks filled. She did what was expected, good job.
In summary, I would say stay away from the fried and blackened fish & you should be okay. It was ageed that the overall rating would be 3.5 stars.

Loved the breakfast, the grilled chicken sandwich was good at lunchtime too. Great dockside atmosphere, you can arrive via boat and park at their dock on the intracoastal waterway

This whole experience was a huge let down. It started with being told it would be a 45 minute wait which ended up more like 1 hr. We were a party of 6. Two of which ordered ceaser salad, 1 ordered chowder only, 1 ordered chowder and salad, 1 ordered a burger and 1 ordered broiled flounder. The food was way below mediocre at best. The chowder sucked, but the most unacceptable thing that happened was they served everyone except the flounder dinner. It came out 20 minutes after everyone else was served. On top of that, it came out with the wrong side. How can u screw up broiled flounder with sweet potato fries? He brought sweet potato fries out after the meal was over.. No one tried to make amends for this major screw up in fact the waiter just made some lame excuse about them being busy... He basically avoided our table after that. I would not recommend this place at all. Huge disappointment!
