“No electricity!?!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

The park is shady. Most of the campsites are really good size. The only problem that we came across was that we were on our travel trailer and there is no electricity in the campground. The only way we will go back to this campground is if we carry a generator because no matter how much shade there is when it is 95°F outside it is hot.

“Nice Clean”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

A nice clean park. If you are camping the bathhouses are clean. The view down at the docks are nice. Not a lot of air blowing so it does get a little hot there. Most of the rangers are very nice. Make sure you read all the rules before you go. They do lock you in at night. That I didn't care for.

“Beautiful place to camp”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We recently camped at Carolina Beach State Park for two nights. The campsites are beautiful with lots of shade courtesy of big lovely trees. It was a short walk to water spigots and the clean bath house. The staff at the visitor center and marina were incredibly friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be going back.

“A hidden gem!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

A quiet little state park with very good facilities for boating, camping, hiking, etc. The hiking trails are perfect for those who enjoy hiking, but hate steep mountains. You can see a fair amount of wildlife (deer, turtles, etc) while enjoying these trails. There is apparently a large selection of carnivorous plants here (Venus Fly Traps, etc.) and there's a ranger-led nature walk if you're interested. Lots of shade covered picnic areas, camp sites and clean restroom facilities. Throw in a little Civil War history, and you've got yourself a nice outdoor experience.

“Great place to picnic”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

Great place to picnic, across the street from Fort Macon National Park. Summer is crowded, but spring and fall are perfect times to visit with less crowds and more temperate weather.
