The park has nice views of the waterway, great hiking trails. I quick retreat for quietness of nature right next to the hustle of the beach front.

We lived in Carolina Beach and now in Wilmington and have camped several times. Occasionally we drive through this park to see how many campers are there. It's sad to think that they are missing out on being used more. The place usually is pretty empty and I think it's due to not have at least one loop that has electricity to start with.. We've travels across the states from the east coast to the west and all the parks we've gone to (and most were state parks) have electricity and bring in many campers. The fact that this park is in the south with the heat and humidity and does not offer sites with electricity is down right crazy. They would make that money is cost back many times over!

Carolina Beach State Park is clean & beautiful, has a wonderful soft sand beach and lots to do for the family. There are walking trails and it is a great place for family biking. Plan to spend hours enjoying the area!

Visited this state park for the first time in June 2013.
We had a wonderful time at Carolina Beach State Park and enjoyed every minute hiking along trails. I would highly suggest going to this park if you have plenty of time to wander in a wide variety of environments. Please make sure to drive towards the back of the park and explore the carnivorous plants that grow in this region.
I have been to a wide range of parks and have found that maps for parks are often less than accurate. This is definitely the case for Carolina Beach State Park. We were lost more that a couple times, but the park isn't huge and it's easy enough to find your way back.
When we were visiting the park, we had a nice breeze and the insects were not too bad. In the heat of the summer, I would imagine that the insects could be very intense in this environment.
Please, don't forget to bring water to drink when hiking these trails.

No level lots, no electricity, lots of tent campers. The park is nice but they lock the gates at 10pm. If you are out side you have to leave your car out there and walk in. The marina seems nice. Not for large rigs.
