Years ago we would have love this place. BUT now between the smoke streaming in from outside, scary customers, the smell of beer all over no bucket of seafood will get us back. We did leave after our order so the food was never tasted.

This little bar is always hopping. The locals visit and the shrimp is excellent. They also feature Oysters, but they were not the best we have had. The wings were also a good choice. We would go back in a heartbeat!

As others have said, this is a hole in the wall but one definitely worth visiting. Go when you're not in a hurry and enjoy some of the best seafood and wings around. Worth the drive from Wilmington.

While at Carolina Beach, we were recommended to visit the Shuckin Shack. This is definitely not a restaurant for a large family dinner, but for a couple or 3, it's a nice and interesting spot with great food and service and several new HD TV's for sports viewing.

My wife and I and a buddy of ours sat at the bar while our 3 children sat at a small table behind us. Between us, we had a combination of fried pickles, hush puppies, steamed oysters and fish'n'chips. All of it was very good. We washed it down with Sweetwater 420 IPA on draft, which is one of my favorite beers. Our bartender was friendly and attentive.

Overall, Shuckin Shack is definitely worth the effort. Just make sure you either get there early or on an off-day, since there's only room for about 40 patrons.
