I went there a few weeks ago for lunch. The service was good, but it seems as though the ham in the club sandwich was low-quality. Half-way through my lunch, I took another bite of my sandwich and got a bite full of fat from the ham. That grossed me out I definitely lost my appetite. My husband had the cheeseburger and said that was good though. If you do go, don't order the club! The environment was nice, other than the 80's music blaring from the speakers.

My husband and I have a condo in Carolina Beach and are always on the lookout for nice restaurants with a waterview. When Harbor Masters opened, we were excited to give it a try since it's righ there on the city boat basin where all the fishing boats come in and out.

We've been there at least 4 times now and are very pleased. First of all, we love the view of the water. Second, we love the way they have been very responsive to customers' wants.

For example, you only used to be able to get the more expensive dinner menu in the evening. Now you can get the lunch menu in the evening too. That provides you the option of a nicer, more expensive meal or a still nice, but less expensive meal when you go in the evening. Their Mahi sandwich and their Cheeseburgers are both excellent.

Also, they expanded their $6.95 "blue plate special" to provide avilability at lunch every day instead of just weekdays. This is a great value. I love the grilled pork chops with two sides. The mashed potatoes are to die for. They also have green beans, beans and rice, fried okra, tomatoes and onions, french fries, sweet potato fries, etc.

It also has a wide variety of choices so many different kinds of people will be happy. It suits my parents (love old fashioned home cooking) and my husband and I--like the Mahi, etc.

They also have a small but good wine list.

The restaurant is nice but not fancy. You can go in with nice clothes or shorts and feel comforatable.

The bar area is very pretty too, and the outside deck is very enjoyable.

I absolutely love that I can dock my boat up at their floating dock, so I can go by there if I'm out on the water.

Oh! And this is a great thing for me--the entire inside is nonsmoking--even the bar. So you can go insdie and sit anywhere and not worry about the smoke. And for those of y ou who like to smoke, it is allowed on the deck.

Parking can be tight, but there is a city parking lot only about a block away, so don't let that stop you.

I hope many people go again and again, so we can keep this nice restaurant in Carolina Beach.

Harbor Master has a great bar and a wonderful location; but the seafood is NOT FRESH.

My wife and I went in last week and loved what they had done to the place. I asked what the "catch of the day" was and was told it was Yellow Fin Tuna and Salmon. Bull[--]. No one had caught any yellow fin tuna off the NC coast in over a week and Salmon are no where near here. I then inquired if the seafood was fresh ( I remember the old Harbor Master bought its seafood FRESH from Blackwell's right across the canal.) I was assured that it was fresh.

I saw that there was grouper on the menu, so I asked for blackened grouper. The waitress came back and said, "We don't have grouper, only grouper fingers...[--]???? THEY HAVE FISH STICKS.

Go enjoy the bar and the atmosphere; but do NOT expect fresh seafood. It is frozen. The appetizer [coconut shrimp] was also frozen.
