Great and friendly two night stay right on the Atlantic Ocean! Plenty of room in the One bedroom villa with second pull down bed in the living room. Wonderful porch out back with view of Atlantic and great swimming pool. It gave the whole family, there for our nieces wedding, a place to hang out and enjoy being together while not at the wedding festivities. Very convenient to grocery and restaurants as well as souvenir shops. Not fancy in decor, but very comfortable and spacious. Prices reasonable too!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an ocean view--third floor will have the best!

We love to visit Hatteras Island because it offers a quieter vacation, away from the hustle and bustle of Nags Head and Kill Devils Hill. The beaches are pristine and great surf fishing can be found in the towns of Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras Village. (Note: An ORV permit is now required in order to take your SUV on the beach. $120 for a calendar year or $50 for 7 days. You can pick up at the Lighthouse Station. We grumbled but the fishing is just too good to pass up!). This is our second stay at the Lighthouse View Hotel. It is an oceanfront property in Buxton that offers clean, comfortable accomodations. Although the rooms are basic (no frills), the ocean view from rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor are spectacular. You can also enjoy the beautiful sunsets from the soundside rooms which tend to be less expensive. This trip we stayed in a spacious, full kitchen suite with a king and small alcove containing a bunk bed. It was perfect for our family. The nightly rate for this room was cheaper becuase is was on the first floor with very limited view of the ocean, but we were out surf fishing most of the day so it didn't bother us. There is no daily housekeeping service for the full kitchen suites but we were able to exchange towels next door each day. Local restaurants include The Shipwreck Grille (across the street), Angelo's, and Diamond Shoals. This is a great hotel in a great location for singles, families, and fishermen alike!

We liked this place so much last Thanksgiving, when we were considering where we would celebrate our birthdays March 10(same day, different years) we agreed to see if Thanksgiving was a "fluke". It was not! Property is still very clean, well maintained, the very best phone courtesy, and to top it off, an even lower rate than November! Pet-friendly,ocean view,10% discount for seniors aged 60+,and well mannered property guests. We may have found an annual destination place.

Room Tip: top floor units have awesome ocean & sound views and less ac/heating noise. One caution is 31 st...

I have stayed at this hotel every year for several years, and love it every time. The comments about the rooms being "old" or "worn" are off base. These are not your every day run of the mill hotel rooms. You can get a room ranging from the size of a small hotel room all the way up to a house with several bedrooms. My favorites are the 1 and 2 bedroom villas. The one bedrooms are great for 1-4 people (if you have small children due to the bunk beds in the alcove). They have full kitchens and are nice and clean. In most of the 1 bedrooms, you can walk right out and see the ocean. Perfect for sunrises or dolphin watching. As for the 2 bedroom villas, what a deal! You get two full bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, bunk beds in a lower hallway, private entrance and parking under the building, large living room and kitchen area, and a large porch that is perfect for hanging out or breakfast. The pool is nice, and clean (which I can't say the same for some other places I've stayed) and has a jacuzzi as well. The beach has gotten small over the years, but that's not the hotels fault. These are barrier islands. The sands shift on a daily basis, and there are stories of the beach being almost non-existant for several years, and then there being almost a mile of beach a few years later. Keep in mind.....if you are a fan of amusement parks and boardwalks on vacation, THIS is not your scene. If you want to relax and actually spend time with your family come on down. I've seen too many people come down with reservations for a week, only to leave after 3 days because they didn't get good enough Wi-Fi signals or there wasn't a "party" scene. The hotel is great, the island is amazing, and if you let yourself see it all you'll want to come back year after year. I have for over 30 years now. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Spring for the 2 bedroom villa. For only a little more money, you get a much larger place (the size...

Hotel was on overnight stay while traveling through the area. Rooms are worn, but clean. No special, but not horrible.

Room Tip: Had a room on the ocean, one night stay. Rooms are worn, but clean. You pay for the view.

We've been staying on OBX for 10 years. We especially love Buxton. After Irene visit in late August, we waited until late September to try & book Thanksgiving week. Most properties were sticking to the Sat-Sat structure. Inez & Tracey worked with us on a Tue-Sun reservation on a pet-friendly top floor round cottage. We later added Monday to start of stay. This property also takes all credit cards. Quick e-mail confirmation followed by postal receipt. Upon arrival, office area was noticeably very clean. Grounds were all very clean. Unit entrance was a short drive down from office. The only partially down side was the 37 steps up each way to door of unit. The view from the spacious deck was very good from ocean to sound! Unit had two clean bedrooms with two very clean full baths. A very adequate equipped kitchen with very clean appliances! We liked the idea of no daily maid service. Large outside spa was a short walk & used by us daily.Washer/dryer @base unit

Room Tip: The top units of all three round cottages will provide less sand, noise and a good view. You will also...

A good clean place to stay on the ocean, with friendly and helpful staff. Great views from the comfortable chairs on the deck right outside the room.
